FASA Starships

I wonder if anyone has looked at the FASA Starships and tried to remodel them using the state of the art computer design? For the ships have been given new stats but the art of the Keiths has yet to be surpassed (to the best of my knowledge). I am interested as the FASA products were the only ones to show Aslan & Zhodani ships in major way.

It will be interesting to see how Mongoose approaches these ships when it comes to the Alien Modules but until then...is there anything out there?

Not to derail, but I'd have to say that *nothing* about the Keiths has been surpassed

At ay rate, there's a great post over at Mongoose where a guy used Google Sketchup to "draw" his custom Scout ship. And where as it was nowhere near anything William ever did, I loved the over-all aesthetic of it.

BTW, although I haven't seen any of the old Traveller material, William has gone digital with a lot of his work. You can see some of it on his site (that's actually the archive of his *old* site as he hasn't put any of his art up in his new site, yet).

In fact, yes, the solomani frigate (endeavour class) is posted in the Gallery under the starship catagory. This was done, but rejected for "Rats and Cats"

I'm curious. Did Mongoose obtain the license to use FASA (non-GDW) Traveller material as well?

I would just be guessing and have to say no. Only because Marc is apparently engaged in creating a CD of it all (along with the GameLords material).

If anyone is willing to talk about it officially it will only be Marc, who rarely posts, or someone in authority over on the Mongoose boards.

Try Jesse Degraff who did most of the 3D modelling for GURPS Traveller, he's got a very nice site

I think he did the cover of the Zhodani Courier ship for the BITS people too, but I don't think it's on his site (I could be wrong though).

He's got a whole bunch of ships hidden around in links too, some are multi-picture pages so make sure you visit as many links as possible.

I don't know if anything will ever come of it. And I seem to recall several months ago someone on the Mongoose boards gave some bad news regarding them when I posted that link there.

SGS has been promising this comeback for years now. I used to be excited, now I'm just waiting for actual product and somebody else to take the leap of faith, order, and post a favorable review before I'll bother.
