Favorite Traveller Ship Design?

What's your favorite Traveller ship design? I'm not talking about stats or how viable it is for PCs to make a profit operating her.

I'm strictly talking about how the old, classic, Traveller ships look.

Which one do you look at and say to yourself, "Man, that's a cool lookin' ship?

That's a hard question for me. Overall I've always liked the Type A in general, and I've always thought that the version shown in the Starship Owner's Manual was really cool, but its always bummed me out that it appears so far off the actual stats. As such, more often than not, I usually end up trying to draw up my own ship instead.

Personally, I like the lines of the Dragon class SDB. But that is a boat.

But she is a no-nonsense, good-lookin' boat, I must concur.

Otherwise, it's a toss-up between the Fiery (which isn't technically CT, except in spirit), and the puts-the-doorstop-Suleiman-to-shame Droyne Scout (Type SD; a David Deitrick classic)...

Honorable Mention: what may or may not be the Hiver Research Cruiser (Type HL); from the text it's not clear which ship (pg. 39, AM7) it's supposed to be, however... plus, the Solomani tendencies towards aggressive pointy bits and haphazard streamlining are a promising aesthetic, but without any real standouts in the published canon...

Hmmm... tough one. I pretty much like all of them, but if I had to choose I would say it's a toss up between the Free Trader (always reminded me of Thunderbird 2... dating myself there) and the Kinunir.

For me it still has to be the good old Free Trader with the Far Trader and Safari a close two and three.

I forget now how many years ago it was that I found Andrew's Traveller 3D site. But since then there has been one of his excellent Free Trader renderings on all my computer's background's.

Imperial Lines T1/J1? 1000 ton ship. I do not remember the the campaign name, but it was MT. Anyway, it is my fave, followed very closely by the animal class and the Manta class from Brooks page. http://www.sff.net/people/kitsune/Traveller/images/mantalg.png

For looks as the original post asked, I go for a 600t Zhodani Shivva-class patrol frigate originally from Adventure 4 Leviathan. I think Russ Nicholson did the artwork.

I like many of the ships already mentioned, but I'd like to give a mention to the Ghalalk class Armoured Cruiser (as illustrated in the Rebellion Sourcebook rather than the original) and the Sieno class Close Escort (replacement for the Gazelle CE on the Traveller Revivial Commission website).

Sounds like what the Gazelle ought to be. Although the leading text is a bit opaque for me, only knowing a couple hundred Japanese characters (" Si-e-no something (class?) small something-something-something-something (close escort?) subject-marker, adjective something-eye/look-something-something...")

After that comes the Fiery and then Solomani Free Trader.

I think the incomparable Jesse DeGraff has done her the most justice.

Try the Google translation of the site; it's quite entertaining ("All your base are belong to us!").

It's basically a 400-ton MegaTraveller version of the Gazelle, without the drop tanks. Very nice.

A quick wiki look finds it may have been either. I still think I recall Rob's signature on the ship but maybe not...

I always like the 600 ton Sub Merch, versatile as can be, pure pax ship, pure cargo (I actually at one point made a pure cargo version). And the there is the Vigilante Version.
