First publicly shown deckplan - feedback appreciated

Would appreciate any feedback.
I used Ships For Windows.
I'll try any version of Traveller, but I've only played CT/HG and Azhanti...
I would like to get better at making deckplans and adventure maps and be of use to the community.

I'm interested in what's beyond the Marches, Theta Borealis is equidistant from Aslan, Imperial and Zhodani space, so I'm thinking of ships you might find there and what size jump drives/fuel cargos are common.

This is an unfinished deckplan, the long tunnels will be broken up and detailed and made smaller, like service tunnels to the turrets.

And this is fairly finished perhaps. Almost Zhodani... Sorry for the sizes all being wrong, I didnt realize the top one was so big and this one is so long it's resized. I'll try and get that sorted.

Thanks for looking...

Looks great! More deckplans are always a good thing.

I have Theta Borealis as a download in the file library under campaigns: beyond the frontier.

What is Ships for Windows? (Other than a Windows app obviously . . .)
A VB program for designing MT ships in a windows. Sort of like Heaven and Earth but a lot simpler and ship specific.

It does all the number crunching, calculating remaining space, power needs etc.
A _very_ useful program for tweaking designs.

Ships for Windows

Brilliant stuff!
I like the interesting shapes of the ship silhouettes and the accommodations.
I also like the unconventional layout of the accommodation and the hint of structural bracing it gives rise to.

It would wreak havoc with Traveller's 'infinite nesting' (where a 40 ton vessel carries 40 tons and can fit in a 40 ton hold... But that's Traveller's problem, not yours.

I'd like to see more of these. :)

Thanks for for the feedback, seems like I could do with improving my Traveller knowledge and being more accurated and perhaps less simple, more detailed.

Feedback has surprised me because I saw in another game when fans put up rubbish maps it was detrimental to the game, so I've been encouraged thanks.

Beyond the Frontier looks fantastic and thanks for showing me, I can't wait.

I use SFW (Ship's for Windows) because maths is my weak point and I'm likely to make mistakes and look stupid, so far it seemed in line with CT/HG and last night I checked it against some T4 stats I found on the Marava and both 200 and 300 Ton conversion was correct within 3 tons, which I assumed to be my astrolab and second elevator.

The ship is converted to J6 and 20 Tons Cargo and carries a 30 Ton Powerplant module which also connects the boats to airlocks in the drives.
The Marava can leave the module and boats in orbit if landing. It's not finished, I haven't mastered adding all the fittings/contents without clutter and I think printable versions for 15/25 mm figures would be nice.

Thanks again for help and advice.

Beautiful work!

I'll note that if you had put them in the Gallery, one can have the board do the shrinking for you...

In the gallery, click on the image to get it full screen, copy the URL:
http://www.travellerrpg.com/CotI/Gallery/images/168/1_Radial_Accel.gif

Then, put it into a url start tag:
[url=http://www.travellerrpg.com/CotI/Gallery/images/168/1_Radial_Accel.gif]

Then add the image tag:
[url=http://www.travellerrpg.com/CotI/Gallery/images/168/1_Radial_Accel.gif][img]http://www.travellerrpg.com/CotI/Gallery/images/168/1_Radial_Accel.gif

Then modify the one in the image tag:
[url=http://www.travellerrpg.com/CotI/Gallery/images/168/1_Radial_Accel.gif][img]http://www.travellerrpg.com/CotI/Gallery/images/168/small/1_Radial_Accel.gif

Finally, close the tags, img first:
[url=http://www.travellerrpg.com/CotI/Gallery/images/168/1_Radial_Accel.gif][img]http://www.travellerrpg.com/CotI/Gallery/images/168/small/1_Radial_Accel.gif[/img][/url]

And you get:

using "medium" instead of small gets:

I feel very 1337 right now, thank you very much, so useful. The gallery was a surprise too, I didn't realize you host the uploads as well, amazing.

I tried medium.

I will go away now and try something better. I'll try more original spaceships and map them more accurately to the volume and stats and hopefully get more interesting details inside the craft. Everyone's feedback has been very useful thanks and I'm looking forwards to spending more time reading the threads and viewing the gallery and hopefully delivering better stuff... I've learned tons literally...

One question on my mind is, what kind of spaceships do people want? Big ones, small ones, TL, etc... what would be useful.

Here's one more that I'm working on after watching the movie Prometheus. I was so impressed I watched it another seven times and noticed a few errors in the plans, it's actually got a Thunderbirds style cargo bay.
I used a fan made resource of template furniture, embarrassed I can't locate the credit right now, will add. I've used Fox's own promo material, they issued deckplans and views for the Prometheus

Any and all deckplans are useful to me, I just convert as necessary.
I've yet to have players do anythuing but ooh and aah over a nice set of
deckplans.

My 2 cents is to make ones you feel excited over, lessens chance of burnout.

Looks good and clean. And don't worry about if everyone likes your style of drawings.

Some want great detail and some just want the location of X on the ship.

The more you do, the better you will get at making deckplans.

Overall congrats on the work and welcome to the drawing club. :)

Some folk don't deserve to have players and contributors.

Your drawings are far from rubbish. I can see me borrowing a few of your techniques when I get around to redrawing all my non-canon pencil drawings and posting them. Then you'll know what rubbish is, ;)

With Dragoner's advice in mind Aslan and Vargr fans might have to wait a while, more likely Imperial or Zhodani. Need to learn more about Aslan and Vargr and find a way to like furry humanoids in spacesuits.

Cheer's guys... definitely I love doing this.

I'm running vista and didn't have a problem so I wonder if you have v16.36.
I think I just got this from the first link in google but I will check.

Tonight I might go for Gazelle or Zhindit, an orbital starport or some other new ship... Traveller is the best game ever!

Great! I love your technique. It gives both a good idea of what the ship looks like as well as the internal player-space.

Thanks again. I was really impressed by the Aegis plans on the portal page news wow!

I wanted to make a vessel that could carry 100 Ton Interdiction satellites and lots of extra fuel if need be and have a frozen watch. It's almost the same as a Gazelle, but older at TL 10 and slightly bigger at 330 Tons. The idea is that two or three guys wake up after a misjump that lasted 200 years and it can be an adventure on the ship or the ship is salvaged and auctioned off to adventurers as a rusting obselete TL10 vessel with a mysterious past...

EDIT: I see I forgot that fuel can be carried on top of the boom and underneath and still be protected by the jumpshield, so in fact it could carry thousands of tons of fuel and the crew be frozen for a long long time...

Going on holiday, but will sketch out a TL10 rusting damaged orbital station, big enough for a nice long enough adventure. Thanks again everyone...
