• Welcome to the new COTI server. We've moved the Citizens to a new server. Please let us know in the COTI Website issue forum if you find any problems.
  • We, the systems administration staff, apologize for this unexpected outage of the boards. We have resolved the root cause of the problem and there should be no further disruptions.

Hey, what's the big secret!

Did I miss something? Why wasn't there a system wide alert? I'm talking about all the new (to me) TNE fiction over on the T20 fiction page.

Or is that why the boards got all quiet of a sudden? Here I was thinking it was the Easter long weekend. Oh well now I have something to read for a while as I wait for the release.

It would be better if there was more traffic here and less on the TML. Mailing lists are a hopelessly outdated mode of communication IMO.

Well, I'm doing my part. Since these boards were founded I've done ~90% of my posting here (though I still read the TML Digest and occasionally chime in on something). Actually, I think the biggest competition to these boards is the (paid-access only) JTAS Boards, but maybe I'm just imagining phantoms.

Well if I had been paying more attention I'd have clicked the TNE page link on the T20 side column and found it a while ago when I started to warm to the idea of the TNE resurrection. Speaking of which, said site's "latest updates" was October 10th 2001 MJD, I'm just wondering if there is no later news or its all in the postings here now?

As for the fiction, its very enjoyable so far (4 down) despite some minor editorial polishing needed. Thanks for sharing it. I am curious though as to who the author is, there seems to be no accreditation in what I've read so far. Though I presume its your work its not listed in your bio page.

It's been real quiet over there as well.

And web bulletin boards are a hopelessly clunky interface IMHO. Much more traffic on boards like this and it becomes almost impossible to follow all the discussions. IME.

I am increasingly of the opinion that RPGs are by the nature of their creation subjective phenomenon. due to the interaction between game designers, game masters, and game players all definitions, rules, settings, and adventures are mutable in acordance with the uncertainty principle as expounded by Heisenburg. This is of course merely my point of view.

Okay, here's the situation

The TNE fiction is mine; written long ago and put up after a hasty salvage job on some dodgy old disks. Editing missed a few things, it appears.

The Ocotber update is the last one becuase I've not had time to do more. T20, a self-defence book, a serious injury that more or less stopped me working for 3 months, "day job" writing in the arms trade, the opportunity to chair a major convention.... and finally a new freelance gig in counter-terrorism, have all somewhat limited my ability to work on the M1248 book...!

However, the book will still go ahead. We need to firmly establish T20 first, and that's a LOT of work right now, but it's the financial base that will allow us to do the M1248 book.

It'll happen.

Believe.

Everyone ignored it.

Well we discussed it a bit over on the TNE ml's. The response, IIRC, was favorable.

And I just brought the Diaspora Phoenix page to the attention of the TNE ml's. That should get some response.

What I said was unfair. The TML ignored it, mostly... TNE list is a different can of worms entirely, to mix a metaphor....

I wasn't implying that you were dissing the TNE ml's. I was posting more or less to say, "All is not lost, the TNE lists talked about it."
