COMMENTS
The Hind XII is designed as a dedicated assault lander. With her armored airframe and high agility for a lander she is capable of delivering marines to the battlefield in one piece. Able to fend off local COACC aerospace fighters with her missiles and lasers, she is also able to defend herself against space fighters with her sandcasters and beam lasers.
Designed with both drop capsules and a troop egress bay she can land her platoon of battle dress troops quickly. Able to loiter over the battlefield, the Hind XII can provide on call fire support with her magazine of missiles. If casualty dust-off is required she can quickly load and transport 60 stretcher cases, using her built in quarters and cargo area. The cargo area can be quickly reconfigured for AFV transport, providing the platoon with organic fire support or heavy weapons carrier options. The large bridge and long range sensors (long range compared to COACC fighters and tactical craft in the LZ) combined with the maser communications suite allow the Hind XII to act as a C3I vehicle for local tactical commanders.
While the fuel load is not the usual 28-day full use load, it is sufficient for local action, considering that the Hind XII is only deployed from larger jump capable craft. The supplies and quarters onboard allow troops to be bunked in the ship they will land in. This helps build morale and lets the flight crew and marines train as a team. While specialized for atmospheric reentry, the Hind XII is capable of landing on any planet with a space big enough for her to set down.
Her greatest weaknesses are limited endurance, light weapons package, and light armor, but these are only really weaknesses when compared to dedicated SDBs. Against most TL 12-13 Ground and COACC opponents the Hind is quite capable.
She carries her troops into battle and supports them while they fight, and if she needs to she cares for their wounds as well.
