I need a deck plan...

Odd I can do. It's mind-numbingly uninteresting I have a problem with.

I was thinking something like this:

"You never know, perhaps Andrew will do it"

Actually, this is the first time I've read this thread. It's tempting, but like you I'm juggling too many projects (1 non-Traveller but paying, 1 Traveller that may pay, and 2 personal, 1 of which I haven't even started yet).

HI Crow! That looks like the filter chamber in Unkie Hengie's bagless vacuum cleaner.

Or some neat Pocket Fusion device that keeps two soft drinks icy cold, while also pulling in the gravball game on a small integral 16x9 LCD screen...

wow thanks for all the cool feed back!
i think i've found a home!

sorry scarecrow i really am wanting a
brick shape like veltyen/ far-trader is making....

BUT

your drawing and idea is very cool!!!!!!
i sure wish i had come here 5 months ago... :(

i might want to use scarecrows drawing for something else if that would be okay?

your ship looks like the idea i had for a
starbase which would be more stable
then alot of other styles we see in fiction...
in fact its REAL close to the style i
was thinking just subsitute windows for
the doors and your almost there...
of course it would
be HUGE over a mile long etc...

I agree!
If I could scribble like that I would have a job making more money working for an advertising agency!~ ;)

(Or certain Game manufaturing/Publishing companies) :D

Ho, ho. Ok, this one is odd.
Somehow it reminds me of two adjected electrical shavers

Seriously I really like the design and the appearance of the cargo module to be dismountable !
Maybe there are differently shaped modules for different cargos (fluids, dusts or containers)...

Another creative thread. Cool.

Best regards,

Mert

Hmmm. Now that you mention it, the parrelelogramic shape is very similar to a beard trimmer.

More so with the fuel scoop on the leading edge

We should have more of these. I do enjoy them.
I seem to recall once writing a short article outlining my ship design philosophies. I found the thread here on CotI but it linked to a file on my old website which I sadly seem to have deleted =(

Ah well.

thats cool...lets do that then, skid plates instead of u-bars and we could sacrifice what 20 tons? for walkway? 1 square wide? runs the length and accross the ends? or down to the cargo floor on an end?

this is cool...can't wait for the final version!

thanks man...i appreciate it...this has been a
4-5 month wait for me...LOL total real time....
Hmm, I'm thinking extensible open wire walkway. So you don't sacrifice cargo space. It's there when you need it, with parts of it capable of swinging down for ramp/stairs.

A final version may take a bit, I beg your patience, time is tight here too. The rough work only took a few commercials while watching tv, finish work is not so easy but I'll try to get to it.

On your "wacky ravings" I like them all. Not for this project though it seems. Although...

The two halves symmetry, well it's not exactly a split down the middle, but yes I wanted something more... differentiated. The seam was mostly a reminder to self that there was a split. As it turns out my volume calculation was a little off. I need to add some to the core hull and subtract a little from the graft, so I'm playing with playing up the difference.

To be honest I wasn't seeing the cylinder idea and it wasn't appealling to me. But then you drew the thing
Cool! Won't work for this, but it is interesting. You won't take this the wrong way if I say the first thing I saw in it was an old paper towel rack we have :D

I don't see this one as an (easily ;) ) detachable cargo module. But yes it needs some heavy bracing, kind of like your claws. My sketch was very low on details like that. Details that add interest and should be included.

The bridge placement, I agree is cool for it's difference, but credit for it goes to sid

Catamaran style is dancing in my head for another design, from the other thread.

The rotating skids idea is one I might try to work in. It is just too cool. If not this one then it will have to be used in another!

The groove is faked. Need to fix that up.
Nice start. Thanks for volunteering to model it veltyen

I'm actually thinking the split won't be indented now, rather it will be a heavy lapped seam, with nice big rivets, ok, I'm joking about the rivets

I also need to adjust the overall layout a little for a volume correction. I'll try to post that correction soon (tonight maybe) so if you want to keep modelling it that'd be very cool.

Not at all. A couple of others have also commented that it reminds them of household objects. That's not a surprise. Much of my inspiration for shapes and ideas for their implementation comes from the most mundane and unusual of sources, not just other space ship designs =) The kitchen and the tool shed can be great design resources
