Exactly. 4 years is what it takes to get one level in LBB2 training. Maybe with a master tutor that could double. And, if the trainee started at skill 1 from his JoT roll on table 2...
But seriously, a +3 in CT combat isn't like a +3 on a 20-sided die roll. For the basic combat 8+ to hit, a +3 changes your odds by 15 out of 36, which is +42%, equivalent to a +8 in D&D. This is the main reason why I say skill-3 is mastery in CT, with higher levels seldom attained.
