TL 14 equipment will have been standard for regular Imperial forces for a century. TL15 as standard is still 200 years off, so not even as prototypes yet.
lots of Psionic suppression battalions are raised by local worlds often very quickly so they will be equipped at local TL (nothing higher than TL14). Probably equipped as riot police / very light infantry. They are for putting down mobs, and arresting people. Probably not very well trained in some case, only slightly better than a mob in others.
The Duke of Regina's personal troops 4518th Lift Infantry were used as well - adding several new battalions. These would be TL14 elite troops, fully equipped to light infantry standards with access to support from the rest of the regt (and their heavy weapons).
Don't forget all troops would be equiped with psi shields in professional well equipped units, officers / elites equipped in lesser units, and no-one equipped in mobs. Apparently psi shiled became a fashionable item for the public during the suppressions. There is a TNS entry during the FFW from a shield manufacturer that may be of interest.
There are a couple of adventures set during the suppressions in the Travellers Digest mags (OOP). Possession Ball in TD18 is set in current era but details a small psionic institute and the raid that closed it down. There is also a longer campaign set in current era but with some history.
A psionic imperial order of knights was betrayed and killed off by imperial forces. Knights vessel and a IN escort went on a pirate hunt. In a remote system the IN escort turned on the knights. Their ship was disabled and they were killed by a marine boarding party. Records were adjusted to remove reference to the knights. Imperial losses were put down to non-specific anti-piracy actions.
While there would have been some military actions I always thought of the bulk of the psionic suppressions as ‘civilian’: police SWAT teams, pogroms, and the like.
There was an RPG called PsiWorld (by FGU back in the 1980’s IIRC) that had some interesting ideas. The game (and adventures) was structured so PCs could either be pro or anti psi.
Sorry to hear that. What were the causes? I must admit I've never played the actual game itself, but I have mined it for ideas and that was all I was really saying. IIRC some of the adventures were by the Keith brothers.
In general the Imperial army would be using laser weapons and various armours. A few support units would have combat armour and fgmp and pgmp with grav tanks etc.
The imperial marines would mostly have combat armour and fgmp and pgmp.
The marine security on the various naval vessels would have varous armour and laser weapons and gauss weapons.
