is there anywhere in the CT Canon rules covering
the founding of colonys?? i cant find anything - am i blind?? are ther any good "states for a colonial officer"?? how about starting a new service for CT?? would make several good suppliments. also could very useful if detailed enough. could use the British Colonial Office as a model!! this idea could lead in many different directions. any ideas??

I'm thinking that such a post would be a job for the scout service. Processing colony requests and setting up the proper permits and such, but I don't remember ever seeing too much about the Imperium sponsoring colonies. Too many inhabitable worlds out there that are established and underpopulated to facilitate the need for colonies. In the adventures and such it always seems that a colony is a privately run thing. Corporate sponsors setting up a colony to allow for a workforce for their factories, mines, or labs usually. Occasionally there are a few for things like religion, but not too many. None that I can recall that are strickly colonized by the Imperium.

To amend that a little as I write this I seem to remember a world or two that was unihabited in the Spinward Marches, but it was noted that it was being looked at for possible colonization by some Bureau or another..you might double check that...might give you a name to work on....

The Imperial Colonial Service is not an established career path. This implies a smallish bureacracy, regulating colonies rather than administering or founding them.

Of course, for a enity a big as the Imperium the frontier becomes vanishingly small, porportionately. Also, with neighboring high tech races and undocumented populated worlds, there may be a vanishingly small number of planets suitable for colonization.
