Yes that a better way to handle them. Fits with the way the government was written. Pay your taxes, at least pay lip service to the party line and SolSec doesn't come to solve things THEIR WAY.

Even Star Trek's United Federation of Planets has a SolSec. Section 31 was introduced in DS9 and Enterprise wrote them in story-wise as existing since before the formation of the UFP. That does not even include the more recent movies and shows. As my good buddy Ash says:
"Good? Bad?" *shrugs shoulders* "I'm the one with the gun."

Dale, as far as using CT, that cannot be done. Not much choice in the matter there. The TAS license is specific:

If there's one thing I am rather good at it is walking the line of a license without walking over it. I won't ever describe the whole of the Solomani. Instead I'll describe a single group of them. Maybe they'll be an extremist group. Maybe they'll be moderates. It is what the plot needs.

So it won't invalidate anything Mongoose published, satisfying the license, but it may also be inline with CT, keeping the original fans happy.

I don't see Brussels sending the EuroCorps to Athens to collect on overdue debt payments, nor London, to end the secessionist movement.
Actually they did 'send in the cops' to Athens, but they did it economically rather than plods with warrants and guns.
As to Brexit, the French never wanted us anyway :)

The EU is building an EU army, it is in the process of directly taxing EU citizens and wants to be able to dictate foreign policy for member states.

Add those elements and you have something akin to the Solomani Confederacy government.

I look forward to it.

Please, no more space Nazis.

The Solomani Confederation is not a fascist state, and the SolSec are not the Stazi

Agreed. I enjoyed playing the Solomani in the early 80s, but I'm tired of the Skin Heads with Crew Cuts caricature that has developed. (Just a bunch of propaganda and fake news from the Imperium.)

The only megacorporation is owned by the Solomani Party, and run as both as a milch cow and with (corporate) cronyism.

The military has also some corporations they own.

You need to expand your resources for the Solomani Confederation - there are other Solomani megacorporations. T20, MT and GT need to be checked as well.

Rats and Cats mentions a genetics megacorporation whose name escapes me at the moment but I will go look it up (GenAssist or something like that)

Yes it was Gen-Assist (not sure about hyphen), good memory. Mike unfortunately....
:nonono:licence alert.licence alert.licence alert.:CoW:If they are not mentioned in a Mongoose book....even that it was ok, there is nagging issues with DGP in the first place. Sorry, unofficial editor and general nagging ninny.

Thematically, the current licensed version also makes the existence of GenAssist as a mega less likely. The existence of megas go aqainst the Party Line of demonising Imperial greed (AM5 p.178 SR p.18)

There are already polities within the Confederation more powerful than the Confederation Government from an economic perspective.

You really have fallen for Imperial propaganda haven't you? :)

There are polities within the Confederation that survived and thrived during the Imperial Long Night era. They had trade empires to Rimward and Spinward that were never incorporated within the Imperium when the Solomani rejoined the Imperium.

The Imperium only sees the Confederate Government - they should take a lot more notice of the polities that give limited authority to the Confederation.
The clue is in the name - Solomani Confederation, not Solomani Federation or Solomani Empire. It is a confederation of sovereign states, some of those states are akin to megacorporations in that they trade right across the confederation. There are Solomani megacorporations beyond the two that we have mentioned.

I guess it would depend on what time frame you are thinking of. The Solomani Rim of the supplement is pretty thoroughly explored and inhabited. Something covering the early expansion period, with the same basic planet characteristics but little to no human habitation would be nice, as leaving it opened up for exploration.

It's sort of the opposite of the Imperium, where member polities are confined to within a hundred diameters of their home worlds, if not their solar systems, whereas megacorporations are free range.

The Confederation tolerate multi system coalitions, which tend to be self restraining due to parochialism.

Kilocorporations can either concentrate on regional domination, or stretch themselves too thin through over extension.

In either case, it becomes a question of preventing existential internal threats.

So it is available on Imperial worlds but not Confederation worlds?

Or does the Imperium trade their TL15 grav technology with the Solomani Confederation?

Is there a black market within the Confederation for more advanced Imperial technology?

The Solomani Rim has both Imperial worlds and Solomani Confederation worlds. We're covering both, not just one side. We'll be posting more soon.

Almost certainly there's a luxury market demand for technological level fifteen goods, and I believe the only ones with that as default are the Impies and the Handlers.

Besides the obvious industrial espionage.

The trick with most successful products is the cheapest lowest acceptable technology and the most glitzy marketing.
