Is there a Chance for a T20 licence for Avenger ??

Isn't there also this:
QLI has a licence for Gateway and Avenger has a license for 1248. Starfall is set in Gateway but owned by Avenger and therefore can't be published?

There must be some resolution to this material that is already written and could be taking my money?:confused::confused:

I have no clue as to what the current situation is as far as ownership of the material goes so Starfall's release is out of my hands unless someone who does have clear rights to the material approaches me about about getting it published.

That's an easy one.

Starfall and other materials belong to me/Avenger. I wrote them, no money changed hands, so they're mine. The only complication is the fact that some people other than me contributed to Starfall.

Well...I've settled with everyone who contributed to Starfall (in various ways) so there is no longer any confusion - Avenger, and therefore MJD, owns the manuscripts.

As we discovered to our surprise, our license to do Traveller excludes some parts of the OTU including the one Starfall is set in, which means it can't be published in its current form because:

Avenger owns Starfall.
Avenger has a contract to only publish through Comstar.
Comstar/Avenger can't publish in Gateway 993.
QED.

There are a couple of possible fixes:

1. We (Avenger) were always considering doing Starfall TNE/1248....
2. File the serial numbers off and do it as a generic 'cluster book'

But we're not at this time considering either of those.

Thanks Martin, hopefully that will answer the questions about Starfall (though I doubt it) ;)

It doesn't answer the actual question of what I *will* do with it... mainly because I don't have an answer to give just yet.

Too busy with other super-urgent things. On the plus side - one down! The cranes book is now captioned and I know everything there is to know about top-slewing and luffing-jib tower cranes... and similarly fascinating things....

Something else probably broke when you did that.
Something important.
Something subtly important.

Sometime soon you'll regret messing with the broken stuff.

Life's like that...

Yeah I have a little experience with crap like that, though I figure I'm due for a stretch of good luck here after the past few years. Of course I probably just doomed myself by saying that ... :smirk:

I've just spent a few weeks in the Hell Of The Job That Has No End... some client changes to the outline, extra bits, a major revision, and a subject I'm not an expert on (WASN'T an expert on). Made for a hell of a struggle.

I finished it yesterday (I THINK)

Hope the next one (a book on AFVs) goes through a bit more simply.

then maybe is there a chance for a T20 license for Comstar :D

Mike

As a guess, roughly the same chance as a man walking on mars (and subject to the same time frame). The only real obstacle to a QLI license for ComStar is the general lack of interest by ComStar in purchasing one.

You or I could buy a license from QLI if we wanted one. Hunter will accept our money. If you really wanted one, Marc Miller would probably sell you your very own Traveller license.

So anything is possible, however unlikely.

I've tried to explain this here:

http://www.traveller.comstar-games.com/viewtopic.php?p=10705#10705

The short version is that no, there is no chance for an Avenger T20 license.

No matter who posts what on the subject (I've seen some odd rumors on this subject, including some that claim to quote things I've never said), the fact is that Avenger isnt pursuing a T20 license. We looked into it at one point but among other things it would mean a revision of the product line. Again.

So: No. No chance of an Avenger T20 license because I've decided not to pursue it at this time. In theory that could change but I personally am too busy to even consider making big changes to the product line in the forseeable future.

The Mongoose thing has finally, totally, killed this one.

Dead.

Really.

That's it.

Not happening.

Not even in your imaginings.

So no more emails about it please....
