Is there an accepted Credit conversion/exchange rate?

As far as I can recall from old articles, the values of the credit in CT and MT (which are the only two versions of Traveller I've known) were based on the prevailing US economy at the time they were printed.

Is there a conversion factor or table that is accepted that roughly converts the value of the Credit from CT to MT to GT to T20 (etc)? The most likely option I see in this is looking at the prices of similar or identical equipment/services in game version and working out if there's a reasonably constant correlation between the two, but I'm not, unfortunately, in a position to investigate this myself since the only Traveller material I have now is my old CT stuff.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, the Credit has the same value as the US Dollar of 1977. Here is a web-based calculator that converts between Credits and various Terran currencies of the year 2005.

So, the 2005 US dollar is assumed to be roughly 0.31 of a Cr... Interesting, and useful.

Thanks.

(Edited, for making a daft typo while doing too many things at once!)

If you want to look at the Imperial Credit vs. local currency of a world in the game, there's a chart that Frand Chadwick produced and printed in a couple of the early JTAS articles.

Hi !

Wasn't the question, if a CT credit equals a MT credit ?
IMHO CT credit=MT credit=T20 credit....GT I don't know.

The credit seems to be an awfully stable currency

TE
