Jury Rig Feat question

det16

SOC-1
In the THB page 106 under the Jury Rig feat is this "When attempting a fast, temporary repair, the character must make an appropriate skill check (DC 12 + Required RP per Block)."

My question is, what does 'Required RP per Block" mean? I can't find it anywhere in the book.

Thanks,

Dave

Welcome aboard Dave :D

I think the RP thing was something removed before publication but not all references were deleted/changed.

You'll find the same RP reference in the Miracle Worker feat too.

Change them to read:

Jury Rig: When attempting a fast, temporary repair, the character may make an appropriate skill check without penalty for lack of proper parts. If successful, the system is temporarily repaired by 1 factor. This feat can only be used once per damaged system until fully repaired.

Miracle Worker: When attempting a temporary repair the character may make an appropriate skill check. If successful the damaged system is temporarily repaired to its original rating less one factor. This feat can only be used once per damaged system until fully repaired. Add +2 to the skill check roll if the character has the Damage Control feat.

Actually I see now that those aren't my changes (though it's probably what I'd have come up with) but they are the changes in the playtest files for the update. That makes them official

Dan,

What is "the update"? Is that the errata data or something else?

Dave

PS thanks for the response

ok, so on the same lines... Systems being damaged is detailed in the starship rules, but in the vehicle rules it seems to state that if a system is hit, it is completely disabled, regardless of number of hits or amount of damage.

Am I reading the rules wrong on that? Because if you can repair something by one factor, that sort of implies knowing how many factors the systems is already damaged...

Nope, it's not in the errata yet but should be (and I hope soon will be). What I'm referencing is the playtest data available to site subscribers.* It is for a possible upcoming Players' Guide companion for T20.

*To subscribe (iirc) you just click "The Moot" link in the menu at the top of the page when signed in. But don't do it yet. The site admin is going through some stuff (see Hunter's note on the home page) and the subscription service is not fully functional at the moment.

Nope, you read it right. Much like CT-HG had small craft systems disabled with a single hit iirc. The idea seems to be the size of systems of vehicles (generally) are so small that a single hit can disable them so they effectively have a factor of 1.

But don't forget, you only roll the internal damage for vehicles(1) and craft(2) on a critical hit, all non-criticals only apply to SI. And don't forget to scale the damage first.

(1) under 10tons/14,000vl in MTU
(2) small = 10-99tons in MTU
(2) large = 100tons + in MTU

There's a thought. To sidetrack off topic a bit...
