General K'kree Diet

I don't have the exact reference in front of me (I think it was in one of the TNE:1248 books about the Lords of Thunder and their expansion), but it concerned a K'kree warrior under battle conditions coming upon a humanoid/mammal sophont "G'naak" female amidst the ruins nursing its offspring and being repulsed by the sight and eliminating them.
And just how do K'kree feed their very young offspring?

While Terra is a small sample... EVERY Terran ungulate nurses their newborn from udders & teat for a certain period - until their digestive system can learn to handle chewn cud.

So are the K'kree evolved so that there is no nursing period whatsoever? Or is that book a bit exaggerated?

Apple pie or carrot cake.

probably not carrot cake unless you make a vegan version (vegans don't eat any animal products: eggs, diary, etc). There are vegan carrot cake recipes.

Personally could not be vegan - like cheese too much!

Presumably, it would depend on their interest and attention span.
No my question is serious, Grazers eat grass and other lower vegetation, While Browsers eat leaves, fruit, Etc. etc.. generally from higher up bushes and trees....

The serious answer to that would be both.

As they become intelligent enough to change their environment, some form of primitive agriculture, they'll start selective breeding and land cultivation, at some point medium and long term storage.

Nope!!!
Not ever!!!
Never!!!!!
Not a chance!!!!
Apparently Alien Module 2, page 10, agrees with your stance:

Even meat substitutes (such as artificially flavored, textured vegetable protein) must be eliminated [from a human diet when interacting with K’kree], since the flavorings can also be detected by the sensitive K’kree sense of smell.

IMO, the chemicals and other processes needed to turn what is a plant into something that looks like and has the texture of meat is exactly that level of processing that makes this “not food” and a “man-made byproduct”.
I’d like to think that Vilani food processing techniques are more sophisticated, but who knows what’s really in that inexpensive “snack on a stick” offered by street vendors near Kasiiga University … 🍭❓

It only stands, IMO, to show how desperate vegetarians will go to pretend they don't need actual meat products :D
I see this type of product as aimed not at lifelong vegetarians, but rather at omnivorous people who are considering vegetarianism.

Regurgitated partly digested food, like birds.

According to canon, what tjoneslo said above.

K'kree are NOT Terran ungulates (despite certain similarities of outward appearance) any more than Aslan are feline. They are a species evolved in an entirely foreign biome with no relationship to Terran species whatsoever. Apparently their evolutionary process resulted in a digestive system that can process partially digested/masticated food from infancy, and only require their mother to feed them until their teeth erupt so that they can eat on their own.

Barbecuing K'kree is not the problem. I have plenty of ideas for recipes for that. Feeding a K'kree is the issue at hand. Assume a dinner for a K'kree merchant party looking to establish some trade profitable to both sides.
Besides, don't we already have a (many years old by now) thread about that?

I think that I am going to treat them as similar in diet and eating patterns to Terran horses, in view of the lack of other data. I understand that they are not Horses, but it is a starting point.

This is a great starting point. It's easy to understand. Extrapolating to various alien worlds and biospheres is not terribly difficult.

Actually I would think Goats would be more apt... Though to be honest proto-Horses were browsers rather than the grazers that modern horses are.

Their upright torso is supposedly due to foraging from trees. They were originally six-legged, not just six-limbed. The drive to sentience was driven by the diet change.

So I think trees are justifiably added to their landscapes, but their preference for long site lines means the trees will be more widely spaced than our orchards typically are.
