Lasers, nerfed

Taking Laser Rifles out of the box in Striker, they are VERY lethal. [ . . . ]
Yes. Giving lasers exploding rounds effects with their high penetration makes them quite OP in Striker. I nerfed them by canning the exploding rounds rule and I also did a house rule where any 'armour piercing' rounds maxed out at a positive DM of half their penetration on the personal wounds table. This also applied to things like gauss rifles, DS rounds from ACRs and HEAP rounds from snub pistols. This helped reduce the insta-kill effects of weapons with a high penetration against unarmoured targets.

That was a design goal of my version, pistols have a chance to definitely kill, along with blades (which were pretty powerful in CT proper but got nerfed to death of 1000 cuts in Striker).
One of the things I used to do with CT was to add a few more handguns - I like the aesthetic of Han Solo with his blaster or characters getting up to some discreet skullduggery. In another game I did nearly half of the personal small arms were handguns - by design - for much the same reason.
