Marine Raiding Forces

I have to agree with secretagent on this one.

But I'd say 24 hours is long. The RAIDING force would have a very specific target (perhaps an B target too). It would probably use live off the enemy tactics if it were delayed.

Equipment:
Well depends on the target and the target environment (here is food for thought) but the following could be considered...
battle dress
drop capsule
weapons (mass combat and sniper)
night vision...or appropriate env equipment
ammo plent of ammo
Vehicles ...sml stuff if anything.
Grav Bikes, weapons sled, or armoured air rafts
communications gear

One of my characters participated in a special forces team on a planetary drop...we borrowed almost everything (APCs, these enemy idiots actually left nukes in their APCs).

Don't forget to have several exit strategies...

Ganidiirsi emphasized one thing that I missed: good intelligence and lots of it. Raids need to have that or be able to gather it really quickly to be successful. No raiding party can stand up to the full enemy strength in the target area (if it could, it wouldn't be =raiding= in the first place) so it needs to know where the enemy is, where he isn't, and where the target is.

The other thing raiding parties need is mobility: speed into, over, and out of the target. For this reason I do think that any Imperial Marine raiding force that needed infantry would use troops in battledress with grav belts. Those troops might arrive via jump capsule, or by assault shuttle, or by G-carrier, or any of several ways, but having the mobility of battledress and grav belts would most likely be very handy at some point.
