Legions of Steel was one of my favorite miniature games that is in the process of being updated and re-released possibly even this year, on 11-11-11 at 11AM.
Clark Browning (the IP owner) is a Traveller fan also and (take note far-trader) a Canadian to boot.

Now, I know that it is not directly Traveller related but ...
It is closer to Traveller style game than many others, like Space Hulk which is the 40K version of this game.
It has a near future history of earth (2200) and the UNE (United Nations of Earth) came about in a hurry because earth was contacted by the LOA (League of Aliens) and told, that if they did not have a 1 world government, that they would not deal with them.
And that they would give them technology to help fight the LOS (Legions of Steel with is the enemy), so humans are not the biggest, baddest thing around (yet
).
