MT Q&A with Marc Millier

In another aside, I actually got hold of David Nilsen a few years back, and we batted emails back and forth maybe three times. I specifically asked him about the unanswered puzzles in TNE, and he was unwilling to enlighten me.
The biggest benefit to the TNE source book MJD will eventually do, besides advancing the timeline for the first time in over a decade, is that all of DN's silly secrets will finally die. They will all have official, canon answers.

Of course they won't be DN's answers, but he's had over a decade to say something, assuming he actually cared to.

Oh, William...
I am one of the Ancients...started CT in '78. I remember what a BOOM Book4: Mercenary was. Thank you for conducting your interview. You asked several questions I would dearly love to ask Marc over a bottle of Lagavullen on the stoop...
Interesting also to note that MWM has changed his tune in re MT over 10 years....

and I look forward to an MT CDROM
</font>[/QUOTE]You noticed that too, eh? I don't think I'll ask why, ever, but I am glad for the change.

And I too look forward to the CD.

Well, I do regret that the world is not going to see Dead Tree versions of what Marc has promised. However, why he does not want to collabourate with actually getting Flashback or new material out there, either on his website or contained in the reprints is still the mystery to me.

If it is that things have not been written then why not at least post an offering with a breakdown of what he would like to see and have the Traveller community take him up and write the darn things.

Wouldn't it be possible then, after Marc have changed his mind about MT, to actually ask him about getting a licence and doing a dead tree version of MT with all errata?

It would of course have to be done with some starting investment of course, and a lot of spare time...

Hopefully, we might get a longer length interview discussing all aspects of Traveller prior or after GenCon here on the boards.

A while ago, I managed to pick up the excellent volume entitled "Horsemen of the Appocalypse" which gave details about the thoughts of many game designers, Marc, included. The proceeds of this have gone into cancer research. So I really admire him as a human being, andm not only a game designer.

However, I do believe that there are great venues for the Ancients which is why I am pushing for the Mortality Radio spot...but, I think if we also had a full length interview of the Ancients speculating and talking shop that it would get more into the game.

William, any idea that you might to a follow up interview with either Frank or Loren or Marc again with a discussion about 2300 or Twilight?

I certainly have no problem with setting up something like that, though at this time I do not have a contact with Mr. Chadwick.

Tell you what, I'll accept questions for the next week at my home email address wlewis at mailbag dot com. Feel free to include questions that are about any of GDW's RPG products but anything I reserve the right not to submit any question. Once I have everything you (or anyone else) are interested in asking, I'll work with Marc and anyone else I can contact who is willing.

That part may take a little while to accomplish.

When I was trying to do the Interview based website (reflections of the 25 years of Traveller), most did not have time for such an extensive project but your interview seem to have been coming at the right time.

The most useful link I found was from Loren's homepage. here is the web page hope it helps, look forward seeing the results when I get back.

Cheers,
kafka
