Need names for subsectors in a sector honoring the Keith Brothers

JAFARR

SOC-14 1K
The sector is named the "Kebro Cloud" [for Kieth Brothers, of course]. Basically it has a crescent shaped rift [The Crescent Rift] with a dense star cloud in the center of map to the right hand edge. The rift is a jump 4 barrier (except fot the a jump 2 route between SS A & SS C through the top of SS B) to the left hand subsectors, called the Scatters. I have named SS A, William's Passage for a section of the jump 1 main trade route that connects the left hand side of the map to a jump 2 link to the cloud through the top tip of crescent in SS B. The Crescent Rift occupies SS B, F, J, & N; all bearing the names "Coreward Scatters, Upper Scatters, Lower Scatters, & Rimward Scatters respectively. SS C, named Andrew's Quadrant, has the jump 2 route connecting to the star cloud. SS D is named Gateway, and contains the jump gate some previous high tech race made to provide access to the cloud. The exit jump gate will be in SS O in a small jump 1 cluster of star systems. The main cloud is in SS G & K (Greater and Lesser Clouds). SS E is the Spinward Extents for now, but I really don't like that name. I am also thinking of changing Scatters to Rift or Crescent. I need names for the rest of the subsectors.

Ideas for names greatly appreciated.

Andy,

For of the two subsectors, presumably the one with the biggest populations, highest technology, largest polities, etc., etc., I'd with the Latin version of the Keith brothers' personal names: Guglielmus/William and Andreas/Andrew.

You could also translate into Latin their various pen names.

As for the rest, I'd select names, of good characters or bad, from the many in the adventures they wrote. For example, "Messandi" from the names of the two professors in the Sky Raiders trilogy.

Bill

That's my problem, Bill. I don't know exactly which things were mainly thier work and which they were co-collaborators on. As far as that goes, I am using other early contributers names in other projects that are on the back burner right now. Most of the CT material I have right now is the CT CD ROM. I know William did a lot of the early sketches and drawings, but that is the extent of my expertise. That's why I asked for the input. Your reference to the Sky Raiders trilogy is the kind of info I needed. Thanks.

Andy,

Ooops...

Let's see, there's the Sky Raiders trilogy, most of the Fill-in-the-Blank Environment books, the Chamax double adventures, the Divine Intervention/Night of Conquest double adventures, the Nomads of the World Ocean, Ordeal by Eshaar, and Uragyad'n of the Seven Pillars adventures, lots of Far Frontier Sector work, big chunks of the Reaver's Deep sector, and tons of other stuff I can't quite dredge out of my weary wetware.

Just looking over that tiny list I can quickly suggest:
  • - Caledon, capital of the large trading kingdom in Reaver's Deep.
  • - Chamax, everyone's favorite bugs.
  • - Eshaar, name of both the hell world and the aliens who live there.
  • - Orobid, the theocratic ruler of Pavabid
  • - Gaajpadje, the alien world menaced by the K"tring.
  • - Alzenai, capital of the League of Suns in the Far Frontiers.
  • - Daghadasi, the huge sea creatures of Bellerophon.

The Keith brothers also used quite a bit of Turk and Scots names and influences in their work, so subsectors named Scotia, or Alba, and Turkiye won't be amiss.

Regards,
Bill

Think I'll use this for the SS capitols rather nthan for the SSs themselves
