New Sectors differ from Judges Guild

I'm an old old timer and am starting up a new compaign. I picked up some old Judges Guild sectors (Lay, Glimmerdrift, etc) and also downloaded the map packs from here (ie:http://www.travellerrpg.com/cgi-bin/catalog/pview.pl?action=view&stocknum=elib0007&h=header_t20&s=). Imagine my surprise when I compared the old maps to the new ones!

Seems like the new ones are totally different from the old Judges Guild published ones, with exception of Crucis Margin. Is anyone else familiar with this situation? Did the universe shift into a different dimension when I wasn't looking?

Hmmm...

As far as I know the old Judges Guild sectors were 'de-canonized' at some point. DonM has this page http://winterwar.prairienet.org/dmckinne/sector.html
that lists sources for sector data and says they're not canon. This allowed later authors to make their own versions of the sectors. Funny, I have Ley and Glimmerdrift on the shelf and haven't bothered to check.

Much as I love Traveller for giving me freedom to move, right now I'm playing with xboat and courier routing on an Imperium wide level and incomplete / conflicting data is making me crazy.

Yes, the JG stuff was definitely de-canonized. Some of it was atrocious. But, that just makes it easier to d owhat YOU want in that area... :D

Figured as much, once I did the comparison. But odd that Crucis didn't change? LOL

When I was GMing, I had my own universe set up quite some distance from the Imperium. Now, I'm just too lazy to rebuild that. Grab generated sectors and modules to run with.
