Nuclear warhead sizes

Depends on the PCs. PCs in the game I'm in have had access to nukes for most of the course of the game, and have never used them. Of course, it's CT era, and the PCs are actually legitimate types (huscarles to a baroness)

It can be fun in a low powered game to suddenly drop a 20kt bomb into the hands of the PCs for no apparent reason. Keeps em wondering if it has a specific use or if it is just there to get them in trouble. We had one game where a player really did not want to risk getting caught with one and argued that they should leave it behind.

As for warhead sizes . . .
In game terms I never really worried about it. Their 20kt bomb was about 1 cubic meter or so. Just big enough to be hard to hide.

IF, you're asking in relation to N Det-pumped laser warheads I once had to figure out an approximate megajoulage for each warhead size for the purpose of black globe energy absorbtion.
I compared the damage ratings and yield sizes with laser turret/barbette weapons I had designed. You might be able to extrapolate further...

code:

10kt yield = 100mj = 1/8-25
20kt yield = 200mj = 1/11-35
50kt yield = 300mj = 1/14-43
100kt yield = 500mj = 1/18-56
200kt yield = 700mj = 1/21-66
500kt yield = 1000mj = 1/25-79
[/QUOTE]I think I worked it down to 5kt and 2kt warheads aswell but those aren't penciled into my Brilliant Lances Technical Booklet.
Mass and volume similarly ought to be able to be extrapolated down.

Badbru's the man! I did this as well, and as you'll notice, the numbers are about as consistent as a.......... as a thing that's not very consistent. Me, I wanted multiple Gt yields, since I could tell these missiles weren't going to cut it against anything with decent armor; they're only good for hunting down little ships.

But then, I also realized that most missiles are hard to spot, especially if they've been designed right, and it might not be a ridiculous porposition for one to get in close and detonate on contact, destroying just about any ship.
