Question about subsector maps

Okay, Its been awhile since i played Traveller (ok a long while)...but i had a question about the subsector maps. I understand the Categories labeled; Name, Loc. UWP, Bases and Codes. But how do i interpret the meaning of the following?

PBG Allegiance/Steller

625 X M2 V

Thanks for any help in advance.

It's detailed on p. 381 of the THB or p. 62 (63 of the pdf file) of T20 Lite.

Population exponent (i.e. multiply world population by this)
number of asteroid Belts
number of Gas Giants

There should be a listing of Allegiance codes in whatever book has a subsector map. Im for Imperial and so forth. Example, p. 76 of Gateway to Destiny.

The Stellar Data is the spectrum and size of the star(s) in the system.

So 625 X M2 V has a Population exponent of 6, 2 asteroid belts, and 5 gas giants present in its system. The system is an un-aligned independent (no allegiance). The Star is a Red (M2) Dwarf (V).

Allegiance originated in some CT supplements (the Sector ones?) and Stellar Data in the Scout book expanded system/star generation IIRC. I think PBG predates T20 but I can't find a non-T20 example at the mo.

For pre-T20 examples of PBG, check out the world stats for the Solomani Rim released for MT, many of the DGP works, sector listings in TNE and T4, and numerous other projects.

The full UWP began to be implemented in the early to mid 80s, IIRC, and has been a standard ever since.

Hope this helps,
Flynn
