Rant Warning: And now a word from our spons-

So I've been away for awhile. Was there ever any formal publication of errata, or (better yet) a new PDF with errata incorporated and errors fixed, distributed for free to purchasers of the existing multi-flawed product as some classy publishers do?

According to Marc (e-mail from FFE dated 12/31/18):

Looking Toward 2019
The next Traveller5 print (and PDF) edition

We are just now completing our revision of Traveller5. Based on feedback and player comments, we have made variety of updates and fixes, and (most importantly) we have broken the BIG book into three hardcover 256-page books that recall the original three Little Black Books: Book 1- Characters and Combat, Book 2- Starships, and Book 3- Worlds and Adventures. They, of course, include far more than the original LBBs, and more than the T5 BBB (we have added about a hundred pages). We plan, at the same time, to produce an updated CDROM version. Look for it in second quarter (April-May-June) of next year.

Interesting. Must find more info about this.

There is also the 5.09 release. I am pretty sure KS supporters got that PDF.

As mentioned upstream - they are apparently planning a 3 volume set. I am really hoping that they get a good editor as there is gold in them thar volumes. And I wish they would give more information about it. I got the 1 email and a link to the site that duplicates the email. I've a feeling that they are going to to a very limited run and only those really dedicated people (and count me in with my Traveller addiction) will get it. But I am hoping that when it does come out, it is actually useful to run a real game with.

and re:tool kits. pretty much all RPGs are tool kits. You start RAW then usually expand to how you want to play. Some kits are just more complete and cohesive than others (my literal tool boxes at home are a mess of various tools from various companies. Sort of like my Traveller gaming: a bit of this, a touch of that)

OIC. I probably wasn't on the right list for that email because I wasn't around in time for the Kickstarter, just bought my T5 on CD from FFE. I guess I need to email Marc and see if I can get that 5.09 PDF. So that has the errata all fixed? Great! I'll look at that first before thinking about the new three book edition.

Not that I've ever done much with T5 since I got it. I made one PC for a PbP game here on CotI (Magnus's Permatic Imperium), made one starship with coaching from robject; and that's really all I recall. I took a look into the PDF yesterday, and it was daunting.

Be advised that the upcoming 3-volume version being spoken of will be T5.10 - the current T5.09 PDF version is the "test release". Note that the Table of Contents in T5.09 is mis-numbered - I have an updated TOC with the correct page numbers (that I believe I posted it on COTI somewhere, IIRC).

The T5.09 release is much better organized (and has 100 more pages, if you can believe it). It is still complex, but not quite as daunting as T5.00. As mentioned above, just be aware that it is a preliminary release for T5.10.

Is there any indication as to a Kickstarter for Traveller 5.1?

I don't believe there is going to be a Kickstarter for T5.1, just an update that should be available on DriveThru and/or Far Future Enterprises. Marc will probably send out an e-mail when it is ready.

T5.1 Update

According to an e-mail from Marc that went out this morning, End of March is the target date for the release of Traveller 5.1, and subsequently putting T5.1 Hardcover back in print, and then putting together the Players Handbook.
