Save T20

New to the forums and have been a big fan of Traveller through its transits and was happy to see a great Sci-fi system for the D20(T20) engine and would not like to see it go bye-bye since I'm thinking of finally getting it.

I would like to add myself to the save T20. Due to the changes occurring from WotC, I would recommend to change it to Open Gaming License.

I suspect that the WOTC changes are a lesser issue than the Traveller license situation. With the exception of GURPS, no Traveller licenses outside Mongoose will be renewed when they expire. This means that we all have to withdraw our Traveller lines from sale on that date.

This doesn't hurt Avenger all that much - we've already entered into an agreement with Mongoose to produce materials that support MongTrav so we'll continue as before. It's rather more serious for those using other rules sets (eg T20) because once the current licenses go, you won't be able to do Traveller with these rules sets at all.

That makes the OGL etc question a bit academic - no point in converting T20 to a different setup if you won't be able to do Traveller at all in the near future. That said, I do know that Hunter is working on a non-Traveller rules set derived from T20 which might be affected by this situation. We'll have to wait and see how that turns out - it may or may not be a factor.

Chaps:

The OGL vs D20 STL is pretty simple... delete the D20 logos and the D20STL from the document. D20 was a subset of OGL, not a superset, save for the D20 logo. Many publishers need to do so on their eBooks.

Therefore, the issue is merely one of the traveller materials. (And note that 2300 is not a Traveller line, despite the one edition named Traveller 2300....) Hunter got a separate license for that.

If you could speak on the matter, when is your drop dead date currently for T20? I am unemployed and am prioritizing final purchases between what I do not currently have in T20 and other d20 material (since that is going away also). I can't buy everthing at once. I had to do the same when Code Monkey lost their license for eTools. Sorry and thanks.

Declaration, I as a loyal Traveller fan would like to see continued T20 support via Quick Link Interactive (QLI) and ask that QLI's licence to produce Traveller materials be renewed when it is next due to expire.

Sorry, I don't know when QLI's license expires.
I'm no longer involved in any way with QLI, having left in 2005.
Given current events it's safe to say that I don't foresee any further involvement with QLI, specifically that means that there won't be any more T20 products written by me.

The man to ask about expiries is Hunter, which is problematical to say the least.

There's a couple of years or more to run on the T20 license, I think, so T20 will be around to buy for the near future.
