Screens at TLs beyond intoduction TL

It just struck me this afternoon that a TL15 ship wanting a factor 3 meson screen would have to allocate more tonnage and pay more than if a factor 7 sceen were installed.
Ok, the EP cost is higher.

So, should a TL15 designer be able to install a factor 7 generator but only power it to 6 or less?

Or should factor 6 screens and lower be smaller and cheaper at TL15?

Should the chart be extended to allow for lower factor screens at higher TLs to be smaller and cheaper?

The same goes for nuclear dampers.

Here are some charts I cobbled together, nuclear dampers first:
</font><blockquote>code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">TL factor tons cost EP
12 1 50 50 10
13 1 10 35 10
13 2 15 40 20
13 3 20 45 30
14 1 5 15 10
14 2 6 20 20
14 3 7 25 30
14 4 8 30 40
14 5 10 35 50
14 6 12 38 60
15 1 4 14 10
15 2 5 16 20
15 3 6 18 30
15 4 7 20 40
15 5 8 22 50
15 6 9 25 60
15 7 10 30 70
15 8 15 40 80
15 9 20 50 90</pre>
And now for the meson screens:
</font><blockquote>code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">TL factor tons cost EP
12 1 90 80 0.2
13 1 15 45 0.2
13 2 30 50 0.4
13 3 45 55 0.6
14 1 10 25 0.2
14 2 12 30 0.4
14 3 14 35 0.6
14 4 16 40 0.8
14 5 20 45 1.0
14 6 24 50 1.2
15 1 8 10 0.2
15 2 10 15 0.4
15 3 12 20 0.6
15 4 14 25 0.8
15 5 16 30 1.0
15 6 18 35 1.2
15 7 20 40 1.4
15 8 30 50 1.6
15 9 40 60 1.8</pre>
Those look pretty good to me, Sigg.

A minor nit-pick: in HG2 the f-4 TL14 nuclear damper is 8 dtons in size, not 9. All the lesser-factor TL14 dampers would then need to be reduced in size by one dton as well.

Consider this stolen.

Computers...

now there's a thought ;)

Note that High Guard first edition allowed bis model sall the way up to model 9, and that High Guard second edition kept the same USP codes for the fib models but failed to mention the bis ones.

So if I do a computer by TL table it will have the bis models all the way up to 9bis as well ;)
