Seven Wonders

I'm reminded of tourist brochure stands in the lobby of hotels. So what would be some tourist brochures in a TAS hotel, both local, subsector, sector, and empire wide?

How about:

Come ride the floating train over the Empress
Marava Gorge, the deepest gorge in the sector!
Fine dining available in the 5-star Dining Car. For those of sterner stuff ride in the Revolving
Car and watch the gorge pass by over your head.
Your destination is the Waterfall Casino that hovers beside the Iridescent Waterfall, famously known for the rainbow vines hanging within it.

Cooooooooooooooooooool setting .

now , an adventure .
all those rich tourists , targets for terrorists ?
all those credits , great for laundering ?
playboys and rouges everywhere .
patrons of all types treat it as a second home .

not an adventure , a campaign .

oh , to be a fly on the wall in the noble's lounge .

do they have accomodation on site ?

Earth-Where Humaniti evolved.

Bah, nothing but Solomani propoganda!

Humaniti arose spontaneously on different worlds in a process of parallel evolution. So says the Great Book of the Prophet. Unbelievers and heretics will burn in the fires, and freeze in the frozen wastes of Shadak.

I would think the Annic Nova would be one of the wonders of the TU. A ship that apparently does faster-than-light by some means not jumpspace. Sounds like a good candidate to me.

Oh, and I'd like to vote for the arcologies of Azun- they are pretty spectacular.

In my writeup of Ruie for JTAS Online ( http://jtas.sjgames.com/login/article.cgi?244 ), I claimed that the TAS routinely works out lists of tourist attractions on every world they cover. By age-old tradition, the seven most spectacular of these become known as the wonders of the world in question, regardless of how many (or how few) actually merit such distinction. I also gave the list of Ruie's wonders.

I'm sure there would be similar lists for each duchy, sector, domain, the various interstellar states, and Charted Space.

What? But I'm sure it had Jump Engines - a non-standard pairing of a J2 and J3 drive IIRC. the power lpant was deeply weird (solar collector and batteries capable of storing enough energy for at least one Jump) but it used Jump drive of some form. Of course, my books are at home, so I may be mis-remembering this!

What? But I'm sure it had Jump Engines </font>[/QUOTE]It certainly did - just as you describe, a J2 and a J3 (with no Jump governer, or why would it need the J2? one presumes that it COULDN'T jump J1, which is how I played it IMTU)

also;
With that gigantic telescope they are studying the history of the Solomani by watching what went on back in the 600-700s Imperial Calendar.
Oo oo! Want one! Can't we keep jumping further away and looking at what happened even further back - say around the time of the Final War?

Anyone want to start a vote for the Seven Wonders of Charted Space? (And just an aside - how would we go about doing that?)

I read somewhere that Trin's Veil has a kind of aurora borealis (the veil), but I don't recall if that was from canon or from somebody's TU (is somebody else's traveller universe SETU?). Or is it a third party traveller universe (TPTU)
