I missed that, Bhoins--did the Gateway book mention that, or was it stated elsewhere? In any event, I doubt those Kokirraks will stay there long, as they'll be sorely needed away Rimward....
I missed that too ... where is it from? </font>
Page 93 Gateway to Destiny (Printed version) under the detailed description of Anapabar. It is supposedly the backbone of the Sector/Domain Navy so is unlikely to leave, but it is a few years ahead of shipyard capability of the time frame. Perhaps it is from Deadspace in a backwards jump?
Kokirraks were relatively new in 1105. (Purpose built Battleships, a change in doctrine from the multi-role Tigresses.) They certainly aren't described as 100+ year old ships. This would make them contemporaries of the AHL. Which are aging and being retired by 1105.

My thought is that they should be a Batron of Perishers.

With TL-G/16 you have to wonder what they are doing, especially as they are stuck out in the Lesser/Delphi Rift! It's a small world, with a billion inhabitants, a captive government, but only moderate law levels. They have no alignment, so you have to wonder what is going on there, how they got TL-G/16, and who has them captive two parsecs from the Imperial border?

Secret research installation - govt type indicates that the govt is really run by the 3rd Imperium? But then why admit that on the UWP? (created as they are by the IISS) And why not an Imperial client state? And why such a low law level? And why ...
</font>
I saw that too. I guess this is where the Kokirraks at Anapabar came from!
And also why they will be hanging around. (Because when Imperium high TL is 14 they have be maintained somewhere.)

On th topic of that, Mssr Bhoins, i did design a TL-C"jump spindle" and a 'corvette' for Osaka based on descriptions in the pdf of Gateway--that of course, lies in Gamma/Crucis margin...
Can anyone tell me what a jump spindle is?

I've been involved with traveller for quite some time and haven't come across this term before. (picturing a large rotating space station!)

Many Thanks

</font>
[wild guess]I think it's an open-frame hull with a big jump drive and fuel tanks designed to carry a variety of other spacecraft or modules.[/wild guess] Handy thing to have around when high-tech hulls are scarce. Also a prime example of what might be used in Gateway sector to alleviate some of their shipping problems. Makes a plum target for the corsairs, though....

A Jump spindle is mainly a huge Jump drive, fuel tankage rated for tonnage exceeding its own. Cargo pods/ modules maybe attached, or subcraft, called lighters. Cheaper versions are USl hulled, so shuttles or "lighters" carry freight down/ to and from mother "spindle".

I'll post it up on the "the Fleet" Page, let ya see what I mean.
