As he exited the concourse to greet his wife Harold Thevins-Wang was killed by a sniper who was apparently laying in wait for both Harold and Diana. Diana had not exited the vehicle yet, when Harold was gunned down, and her bodyguards threw her back into the vehicle which was hit with a fusillade of gauss weapon fire which did not penetrate the armor.
As Gendarmes responded, the grav vehicle bearing Diana took off and headed to a safe location. As they left the airport, an anti-aircraft missile was fired at the vehicle, but was shot down by the hidden anti-missile system that had been installed in the vehicle by M'Butu. She made it safely back to her villa.
Security and Gendarmes rushed the area where the shot had come from, and were involved in a short and deadly firefight with two assassins who were killed in the ensuing gun battle. A laser rifle was recovered along with two BEI Gauss sniper rifles, and a computer. Ms. Thevins was taken back to her villa where security was tightened, and the Prefecture of Police have stationed additional security around the villa.
GNS has been told that Harold was hit by a laser bolt in the head which was instantly fatal. The police tell us they have found the snipers nest in a luxury hotel overlooking the concourse entrance, and the room was well prepared for this, showing signs of planning. The computer has been cracked and we are told that the assassins had complete floor plans, security details, and itineraries for the late Harold and Diana Thevins-Wang. Also found was approximately 200,000 New Paris Francs in cash.
We are being told that Diana has had a complete breakdown after seeing her beloved husband murdered in front of her own eyes. Apparently Diana has asked that Harold's body be prepared to travel back to New Canberra. Sally McShane has been making all of the arrangements since Diana is not capable at this time of dealing with the details. The 25 year old is described as a "Masterwork of the Distillers Art" and has already almost sold out. All Funga-Meals have been withdrawn after multiple complaints of gastric distress have been received at the corporate HQ.

Friedland is German, and is a Utopian colony that re-creates the Germany of the 1880-1910 time period, but without the craziness of Kaiser Willie the Second. They maintain the strongest Army and Navy in the sector, but are allies with a number of other worlds. The current Kaiser just culled the numbers of people that are sucking the resources of the Imperial court, and so there are a LOT of ex-princes, and nobles who are unhappy with the Kaiser for cutting off their access to the purse.

The Imperial Friedland Navy has taken ownership of the last of the new build Battleships and Battle Cruisers. With these ships in service, the last of the old capital ships are being retired to the depot area where they will be mothballed until such time as a decision is taken as to the ultimate fate of these ships. They will join the 35 other vessels at the facility, and a servicing crew from the Depot space station will ensure that the ships are maintained in usable condition.
The new ships are the latest TL 12, Jump 3 warships with engines, and weapon systems purchased from New Texas and Xanadu. With these ships entering service, the Friedland Imperial Navy is the absolute strongest navy in the sector with 24 capital ships in service, and 12 of them being the latest Jump 3 vessels. Also entering the fleet service are the first of the Roon class cruisers, again the latest in TL 12 technology is being used on these ships. When the class is complete, there will be a dozen of the Roon class in service with the Imperial Navy.
Gross Admiral Gustav von und zu New Pommern said that the Imperial Navy is dedicated to ensuring the fleet is the best in the sector in order to assist in the maintenance of peace and ensure the safety of the citizens of Friedland. As previously reported they won in the top five of the Galloping Gourmet Awards for Ramyeon that would make your momma blush at how good it is. The 짜장면 jjajangmyeon (Black bean noodles) is beyond amazing, and their냉면 naengmyeon served with the traditional mustard and vinegar is mind blowing. The new store will be open on 100 day, and is expected to be mobbed. Wait times at the original store can be up to an hour for a table for noodles, gimbap, mandu, and Kimchi. The funeral for Prince William Bingo Cheval was held today under air tight security. The cathedral was packed with mourners since Prince William Cheval was highly regarded as not only a loyal son of Sutekh, but a genuinely nice person who helped many others in secret and not asking for any recognition for his actions.
Former King Dorian, and current King Dorian II led the procession into the cathedral, and the coffin was carried by family members and draped in the Sutekh planetary flag. The Cardinal Archbishop, along with the Chief Rabbi, and several other religious figures presided over the service. Prince William was a member of the Reformed Catholic Orthodox Church of Sutekh, and like all members of the Royal family treated all faiths equally.
After the service was over, a smaller group escorted the Prince to the Royal Crypt where he was interred along with his grandparents, great grandparents, and other family members. As the family came out of the crypt, reporters attempted to speak with the family, and all that was said to us was: "Thank you for coming, we have work to do now."
In further news, two people have been arrested for "Crimes against the State", no other information has been released. We are being told that the arrested parties have been identified as suspects in the building of the nuclear weapon which had been used in an attempt to kill thousands if not hundreds of thousands of Sutekh citizens.
The nuclear dampers which are operational around the city stopped the weapon from going critical, and the explosives caused damage to the tower. We are told that the fissionable material had been smuggled in on a meteoric delivery, and as a result, the Sutekh Security Services have further restricted flight paths around the planet.

The captain and navigator have been charged with disregarding traffic control instructions, as well as violation of Space travel regulations after a complete search uncovered safety violations on the ship. So the purchase of these ships by Gateway Shipping has saved the Galahad Yards from an almost certain bankruptcy which would have soon followed due to the Navies cutbacks on ship procurement in light of the fall of the Gateway Loyalist Party, and the rise of the the Gateway Libertarians.
The rejection of the carrier class of ships by the Navy has hit several shipyards hard, but none as hard as the Galahad Yards which were not only producing the carriers but the riders as well. The riders have been placed in a very low rate production, with contracts for 50 ships canceled which caused Galahad Yards to face imminent financial disaster. But the purchase of these ships under a new need has kept the Galahad Yards from immediate bankruptcy.

The belt miners association announced that it was going to go on strike over concerns that Galaxy Metals Corporation which owns and runs several of the largest ore processing stations has raised rates on belters for things such as fuel, atmospherics, food, and repairs. The belters have stated that they are being joined by the ore processors guild which is also seeing increases in demands for production, as well as cuts maintenance which imperil the safety of the mining stations.
Galaxy Metals Corp, which is a subsidiary of Xin Zhongguo Minerals Corporation has always had a reputation of shaving the safety margin on its facilities, in order to boost corporate profits. The head of Galaxy Metals Ms. Wang Chi-Chen said that she knows her stations are completely safe, and it is a bunch of malcontents who are involved in this "Illegal Strike" which will be put down under the Imperial Production Act and security forces are being moved into position to ensure that the miners and ore processors are working at the level they are expected to work in order to ensure a steady supply of ore and minerals for the Glorious Xin Zhongguo Empire. She then went on to state that she was not going to stand for any nonsense, and if the miners and other workers knew what was good for them, they would get back to work, and increase their quotas of ores!
The Belt Miners Association, and the Ore Processors Guild, issued a joint statement calling on Ms. Wang to step down, and someone who cared about safety to be placed in control of Galaxy Metals. The contract will provide 25,000 of their M-417 Advanced Combat Rifles, 5,000 M613 Advanced Squad Support machine guns, 850 M-19 Advanced Combat Sniper Rifle systems, 800 M-37 Heavy Advanced machine gun systems, along with 34,000 sets of M-15 Combat Environment Suits with advanced stealth, and HUD helmet systems.
New Caledonian Arms works in a joint venture with New Texas Arms, are providing 220 of their TL 11 "Bushmaster" Grav personnel carriers equipped with VRF gauss systems, and 120 Copperhead V tanks with the new 6.5cm mass driver systems, with New Texas Arms command and control systems.
BEI who had partnered with New Judean Arms Works for the contract submitted the losing bid, and are claiming that there "Were payoffs at the highest levels, and we will see them in court". However the New Texas Arms Procurement Command has, by law, a completely transparent bidding process, and so per our legal analysts, BEI and New Judean Arms have a very uphill battle, which will not necessarily be to the advantage of either company.
The Merkava XIII has been replaced in both New Judean and New Canberran service with the Mk XIV model with either the new 6.5cm mass driver, or a Rapid Pulse A gun. A contract for support weapon systems is pending, with heavy bidding by several consortiums very interested in the new contracts.

In an almost unprecedented move, the Emperor himself made comment on the pending strike in the Serenity Belt. Emperor Yongle II said that it was "Distressing that negotiations were apparently being blocked by the intransigence of "certain corporations" for mere profit at the expense of safety. He also said that he is concerned by the news he has been given of the lack of safety for his citizens in the belt".
For the Emperor to weigh in on something like this, has sent shock waves throughout the entire Empire, and has caused the Governor to retract (some report in a panic) his earlier statements since the Emperor's disapproval was so strongly phrased. He has vowed to spend more time "assisting the parties come to a good solution". We are being told that the Governor does not want Imperial investigators looking too closely to his portfolio.
The General Manager of Galaxy Metals, Ms. Wang Chi-chen said that she was shocked and stunned that the Emperor would stoop to getting his "August Presence" involved in such a minor affair. But she also said that she would look to return to the negotiating table. In an almost unprecedented move, the Emperor himself made comment on the pending strike in the Serenity Belt. Emperor Yongle II said that it was "Distressing that negotiations were apparently being blocked by the intransigence of "certain corporations" for mere profit at the expense of safety. He also said that he is concerned by the news he has been given of the lack of safety for his citizens in the belt".
For the Emperor to weigh in on something like this, has sent shock waves throughout the entire Empire, and has caused the Governor to retract (some report in a panic) his earlier statements since the Emperor's disapproval was so strongly phrased. He has vowed to spend more time "assisting the parties come to a good solution". We are being told that the Governor does not want Imperial investigators looking too closely to his portfolio.
The General Manager of Galaxy Metals, Ms. Wang Chi-chen said that she was shocked and stunned that the Emperor would stoop to getting his "August Presence" involved in such a minor affair. But she also said that she would look to return to the negotiating table. We are being told that per Imperial Order, no Imperial troops or security forces will be involved in any strike breaking activities.

The Blue Mold Valley expedition, is still very puzzled by the glowing hallway, while no one has been injured there have been several other incidents of concern to the scientists. A lunch pail of one of the workers containing Kormoran Kimchi was being carried through hallway when a flash was seen, and the container was emptied. Scientists can only speculate that the contents were teleported to the moon for disposal.
A similar event occurred with a consignment of Surströmming which vanished leaving the cans intact. A scientific crew was on the moon, and ended up with their Vacc Suits covered in the aromatic food substance. This has led to the theory that the "landing area" of the field varies so as to not have mountains of debris. This was proven by moving the "porta pottie" recepticle into the field and it landed where the Surströmming ended up. This has led scientists to start checking the entire surface of the moon for signs of waste disposal.

He told our reporter on the ground that he has gone 50/50 in on one of the new K'Grech starships, a 400 ton Fat Trader which he hopes will bring in a tidy profit. Hammerhead, as he likes to be called, has always been at the forefront of hiring natives to work for his company. Now most of the time he could actually pay them actual money as well, which made his workers happy. He said that the mineral strikes he has made have allowed him to make this investment, which he hopes will end up being somewhat profitable, and if it makes enough profit, he is not adverse to investing in another ship as money becomes available. He has managed to get his three mining crawlers working again with the money he made.
Hammerhead is also known across the planet for his marriage to Lishar R"Karinsh kint Tolmarish mep Holmark, the widow of Groshilar kin Holmark a hero of the rebellion against the Chartered Dustball Company. Hammerhead has also adopted the children of his wife's prior marriage and his children by his late human wife have no issue with their father adopting the kids. The two children have already been working on Matoshi's crawlers as crew. He was able to get Lishar anagathics just months before she became too old. Lishar is the youngest sister of the former King of T'Landia. Some "old Timers" have claimed Hammerhead had gone native, and are not sure if it is a good thing or him just being "sun happy".
We spoke with Jethro Donaldson who is one of the other “hard luck” miners on Dustball with Matoshi, and he told us: “Well old Hammerhead, he is sort of throwed off, he always was one to hire on them funny fellers. But he had something with that since his crawlers were never attacked by any of then native fellers, so we started hiring some of them too. Now the Company did not take to that real well since they did not want the natives getting too uppity and gittin’ funny ideas above their station, if you know what I mean, so they made life real hard for Hammerhead for a while. Them Company snakes was always “inspectin’” his crawlers and issuing him fines for “safety violations” just to make life hard for him. Them Company baddies never wanted them natives getting too good with modern tech just in case they got ideas."
“Then after his wife died of the Marduk fever back in 2492, he just sort of spiraled down, drinkin a lot ‘cause it was just him and five kids, but then he rescued that gal he is now married to after some bad folk wanted to put her, her husband and chilluns down after chasing them out into the Erg. They got her husband, but ole Hammerhead, he done kilt all of them baddies, and saved her and the kids. Well, they got a tradition here that if you save someone’s life out in the desert, they sort of become...well your blood brother, and if it is one of their wimmin, then she becomes your responsibility, but old Hammerhead did not know what to do with her since she would not leave his side after he saved her, because by her rules, he was responsible for her and the kids.”

In MTU, the K'grech are humanoid aliens with copper based blood, and are a tall, thin attractive race of people who are found on three planets put there by the Ancients for unknown reasons. They are compatible to humans, but cannot have children with humans and a wag has tagged them as "Anime Space Elves". They are TL 3, but have rapidly adopted human tech, and are now crewing starships being a very adaptable race that was geneered.

His crews were pretty loyal, and kept things running with duct tape, bailing wire, creative engineering, and at times out and out theft of parts. He employed the PCs at one point as security, and made a big find of platinum and platinum group metals, which allowed him some breathing room. The Chartered Dustball Company were not a very nice bunch of people but had some decent enough types who eventually turned states evidence against the badguys.

The Dirty Duck has been the scene of a meeting between the executives of Outer Slobbovia, and New Podunk. As is well know, the Dirty Duck was granted the number one spot on the Galloping Gourmet Awards this year. The owner said that she was not shocked that the leaders of those two states wanted to meet at her place, since she is proud to provide the best cooking on Marduk.
Her Thai-European fusion dishes, which include her famous Massaman Curry, kaeng khiao wan (Green curry), and her very famous Dirty Duck Noodles which is hot and spicy enough to cause you to break out in a sweat, and reach for more. Ms. Carin Vanakorn ensures that everyday a new dish is there and ready for her customers. There is no menu, you get what she decides to cook each day.
The two governments are meeting to firm up the boundary lines between their two countries, and also to hammer out some free trade issues since the two nations suffered during the Gilfig war which wrecked several colonies on this planet. We are told that they are determined to not allow that to occur again, and have reached out to New Zurich for assistance in forming a Swiss style militia service.
Ever since the article came out in the Gateway News the restaurant has been packed both with locals and with off world visitors who want to eat the best of the best in the sector.

Investigators with the Taco Flats Sheriff's Office have discovered a link between Diana Wilder and Arthur Robinson. Their ranches were adjoining along Hard Wallow Creek, and it appears that they were purchased at the same time, with by the same company: Elder Gods Land Speculators which according to business records is based out of Hades Station. The company shows a Post Office box, but no physical address.
The Sheriff's Office is sending a request for assistance to Hades Station in unraveling this mystery. Another point of interest is that both ranches have far heavier security than would be normal for Coffeeville, with many of the weapons being BEI make under what appears to be a contract for BlackHeart Exploration Company.
Blackheart Exploration is based out of St. Ekaterina, but was previously a Sutekh based company. It shows that it is a private company, and will not divulge its shareholders. The papers of incorporation show Hades Station as the place it was incorporated. Blackheart Exploration does some work with The Petrov Mercenary Company which is based on Coffeeville.
A spokesman for the Petrov Company said that they show no records of any purchases of weapons in the time frame that investigators are claiming. The owner and leader of the mercenary group Major Boris Petrov is a former Sutekh Marine Commando, who was last known as head of security for the late Liam Homer.
The Sheriff wanted to make it perfectly clear that he is not accusing anyone of any crime, but they were going to keep digging to solve this case. He has further stated that the Petrov Company has been very cooperative, or as cooperative as their lawyers allow. He also stated that it is suspicious that both ranches were purchased at the same time, before either party arrived on Coffeeville.
