This is a prototype design of the Nolikian-class Battle Rider. All components except for the spine come from ACS; the spine is imported directly from High Guard.

Performance characteristics of this spine in Traveller5 has not yet been determined.
On the other hand, performance characteristics of the bays is known. For this exercise, the Nolikian was given Long-Ranged 100-ton Bay Particle Accelerators.

I forgot to figure in life support, which would be 2 tons per 40 people for 1 month. With 300 crew and marines total, that works out to 16 tons of long-term LS.

What is the TN column?

I like the designs you've been putting together, and I've tried the ACS designer on your site.

However, I can't figure out what the TN column is...originally, I thought it was tech level, but that does not appear to be the case.

Please enlighten me, and thank you!

It's the Target Number, used when rolling a task against the component. It is useful mainly with the weapons, but it's useful to show the TNs for everything, for when the crew have to do maintenance or repairs, maybe.

2000 LR Spine Meson Gun...

Please note that I've forgotten to do power calculations on the spine. I believe this is a grave error.

The High Guard "Class N" TL15 spine which displaces 2000 tons requires 1000 EP. In Traveller5, that equates to 50,000 EP.

Using the drive formula EP = (T - 1) x 100 / 3
50,000 = (T-1) x 100/3
150,000/100 = T-1
= 1501 tons

Assuming a standard Power Plant array, we then need fuel. Assuming we only need the volume of the spine, and further assuming that the "rating" of the spine is its effectiveness -- in High Guard, that's its letter, which is N, or 22 -- then fuel would be 0.01 x Volume x Rating = 0.01 x 2000 x 22 = 440 tons.

So the total of power plant + fuel for the spine would be 1,941 tons.

I'm going to need a bigger boat.

OK, I am at it again.

For target number you (normally) roll 2D against the target number. There are different numbers of dice depending on difficulty, and target number may also be modified.

How did you arrive at the TN numbers referenced on your ships?

I figure the base number is TL, but the rest escapes me...did I miss a post somewhere? (likely...lol)

Still learning the ropes, and thank you!

Gotta love that Staging.

It is quite probably due to Stage Effect Mods. I know that is how I get really nice TNs when I design, in fact I try and squeeze in some lovely Staging whenever possible.
