some very simple CT tools

SHEN is now up to version 1.3

i added a 1000t carrier class(CV) today
"light" would be the word. i'm trying
to stay within book 2 rules as much as
possible...the "fighters" would be modified
ship's boats(keeping the size down) and could
carry either 1 missle tube or a beam tube
or pulse a tube...to stay canon..

it has 5 turrets...so it can fit on a data card,
i could possibly squeeze 1 more turret onto
the card but i'll wait...

go to the link in the first post of this thread
to get it...

ENJOY!

SHEN is a fun little utility but it seems to consistantly (6 for 6 so far but I can't seem to figure out why it is doing this) produce designs that are 10tons or more over the hull limit.

Also, if it would be real easy, having it name the text file with the ship name to save each design would really streamline the usefulness for running off multiple ships.

More friendly nit-picks of SHEN

The frigate is a neat add but I'd vote for completing the basic encounter list before expanding (I'd like to see types K, L, and T there
). And sticking to the CT types for the input code (you have Free Trader as F rather than A).

Just a curiosity thing, I typed a letter not listed for type <N> and it gave me a Scout. So is type S the default, top of stack, or simply the next letter after my unlisted choice?

cool thanks FT!
could you tell if its too big of drive or fuel tonage? which ships was it...all of them? or
just a class of ships?

it probably is my drive tonage since i allow
1 or 2 letters over canon...???

good point on files names i'll see what i can
do i'm not too swift on file name handling
but i can probably do an append to file
where it will build a ship then go back to menu
let you build another and put them all into
one file for printing...

good point again...but i dont see a type
K L or T in book 2...is that in high guard?
or another CT book?

yeah i can change the input code to match the
class of ship...forgot about that on a few...

yes S is the default...i should probably
build a default that just goes back to
the menu without making anything...

cool FT i'll add you into the feedback credits...

THANKS!

You are most welcome, but the thanks go to you for making it. It is (or soon will be) a very cool little utility.

It does seem related to drive tonnage, not a problem of going over rated though I don't think, which is cool. A quick look at just 9 samples seems to show a relationship. Drives of A produce 10tons over hull limit. Drives of B produce 25tons over hull limit. Drives of C produce 10tons over hull limit. Not sure it helps much but that seems to be the relationship. I'll check more later tonight to see if it carries to the other letters.

Oh, it also seems to add a half ton over the hull limit in the case of an uneven number of lowberths. If it was me I'd just limit lowberth choices to even numbers

That'd be a great way to do it! Good idea! Like I said though it's a minor issue. The thing works fine the way it is as far as that goes.

I was looking in The Traveller Book not my LBB and forgot they were extras. The K, L and T would be the Safari Ship (200ton), the Lab Ship (400ton), and the Patrol Cruiser (400ton). No worries then, just a bonus if you're looking for more to add

NOTE: Drive Fix AND Computer Fix no longer needed for v1.4.

A quick easy fix for everyone playing with it while sid works:

</font><blockquote>code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">For drive letters: Reduce cargo tons by:

A 10

B 25

C 10

D 20

E 20

F 20

G 10

H 20

...

P 30

(to be expanded later...)</pre>[/QUOTE]Also lower the lowberth count by one if an uneven number. For example a design with 37 lowberths listed should be called 36 lowberths. Or reduce cargo by 0.5tons.

Also reduce cargo by 2tons if computer is Model/6.

And reduce cargo by 4tons if computer is Model/7.

Hi again sid, playing with SHEN, finally "looked" at a couple Frigate designs and wondered why it was 675tons? My brain had me convinced it would be a 1000ton hull

Anyway just wondering, off to puzzle some of the larger drive letters now. Post shortly.

could i have the general stats for those 3 ships
i'll add them in after i fix the over tonage thing..

isn't a frigate generally smaller then a crusier?
thats why i made it a tad bigger then a merchant
but smaller then a crusier...i can make it bigger
if its the other way around...
