Texas Traveller Game Day?

Good Morning, All,

This is a quick note to see if any Texas-based Traveller players might want to join in a Texas Traveller Game Day sometime during the Spring?

I imagine that this would most likely be a Saturday during either March or April, from 10am to either 7pm or midnight (depending on interest and available Referees.) I'd want at least two 4-hour session blocks, if not three.

It would likely be held in Austin (unless someone else jumps up and wanted to organize this effort). I'd even be willing to put people up at my place for out-of-towners, if it would help make this a reality. Think of it as a Traveller-themed Road Trip, if nothing else.

It just seems that we have a lot of Traveller fans in DFW, Houston and Austin (and the surrounding areas), and it seems a shame that we don't get together every once in a while to play the game with other fans.

I'll volunteer to run a T20 game for the Game Day. Are there any other parties interested in Refereeing? Are there any parties interested in playing a little Traveller?

Please post if you are interested. If I do not have enough feedback by mid-January, I'll drop the idea... for now.

I'm interested, but not able to travel Once again, I am opining for maglev rail service through the central US. Spokes from Houston and Austin meeting in DFW, on up through OKC to Chicago.

Other folks I know of here in the DFW area include Tom Bont, Mike West, and David Smart.

My situation:
As described in my Brain Surjury thread in Random Static. I have Astrocytom gliomultiform stage 4.
Translation: Pretty Bad Stuff. If I can tollerate the Chemo thats coming, than I can go.

We're looking at my last trips with the family.
One of the options is to go south through Dallas, Austin, and one to San Antonio.

I haven't had a FTF Traveller game in decades. This would be a fun opportunity for me. I would only be able to do one day, but I could get there.

Hot Springs Arkansas to Dallas is 4.5 hours. I don't know how fast it would be from Dallas down to Austin.

Ok, reread the post. We going to do strictly T20. If we get more folks in, could we have a CT group, or whatever MT, TNE, T4 etc.
If we only have a few folks, I'll go with the T20, but you may have to hold my hands there cause its a little more than I'm use too.

Lets look at times and dates. I'm for March or April; past that depends on my tumor felling happy or not. Of the two, I'd go for March. Hmmme, Maybe the Ides of March

I'm very serious here. We could do this!

I can run CT or MT, too, if that's what people want. The system makes little difference in the telling of the tale; it will affect my prep, is all. (The BITS task system makes things pretty easy to convert, all told.)

However, I would be honored to run a game for you, either in DFW or here in Austin, which is 3 hours south of DFW. (While I'd prefer Austin, of course, I'm open to DFW if that means more Travellers can make it.) If it's going to be in DFW, we'll need a local up there to make the arrangements for location and such.

The Ides of March fall on a Wednesday this year, but we can aim for either the weekend before or after.

I'm pushing for Austin, but my cab driver wants to do Dallas. Of course, I'm not allowed to drive right now, at least till June, and I think because of my situation that may be a permanent thing now.

So it will be plop and 1 noobie, either Mom or Dad. Probably Mom. Dad would have to stay and take care of Grandmother.

Now today, I see the Chemo Doc for the new treatment that we're going to have. Eight more days and I will be able to start excersing and being more active.

We will be going to Dallas in Feb, 2-4. Mother and Grandma are doing some stuff there. I'm going to be resting at the Adams Mark Hotel in Down Town Dallas. When I have precise times and rooms I'll let you know, if you want to have a "pre-diplomatic conference" there

Back to the Austin/Dallas thing. At one time the Mother figure had said that she wanted to go to San Antonio for vacation down there. I figured run through Dallas, down I 35 to hit Austin, do the traveller thing, go see the GURPS compound, then off to San Antonio. But know she's not thinking that, so who nows. I'll work on the diplomacy thing there and try to convince her to do the Austin thing.

The other possiblity is that Mom stays home with Grandma. We could could get Dad to do some of his AC-130 Gunship stories.

Seriously, I understand. I still will be at the hotel there. From 1:00pm on at the hotel saturday. I'll just be cruising and relaxing there.

I should have my income tax check rolling back about the time for the March meeting too. So its all good.

Greetings Travellers of Dallas,

TRAVELLER ROAD TRIPS!

The Arkanasas Traveller, all one of them, will be conducting several road trips into the Dallas area.

The initial trip will be at Lone Star Comics at Mesquite, Texas. In and Out, probably 30-45 minutes.

The longer trip will be at the Adams Mark Hotel from February 4, Saturday, 1-3 pm down stairs. I will either be at the lobby or staying at the PEARL STREET CAFE DINNER. Just taking CT Books 1-3 and some other little things.

PS I'm commiting myself to 1-3 pm, but I might do that longer depending on my strenght. My last chemo for the first run ends tommorow, so I might be able to do more than that later. Just depends.

Back to the topic of a Texas meet, I could probably make it to Austin sometime in the March / April timeframe. Dallas is probably out for me as a day-trip.
