The CT Personal Combat Round Experiment...

Hmm...

I actually made the multiple posts because I felt it was easier to read.

A person, interested in this topic, can simply flip to the "chapter" he wants to read, because the topic of each post is written at the top.

A person that doesn't want to wade through a long post can easily skip over the combat example, for instance, and move on easily to something else he wants to read on the topic.

Long posts (like this one would have been) are scary, and people typically don't read long posts the way they read short posts--at least in my experience.

I'm sure multiple posts (long threads) are daunting too...damned if you do/don't, I guess.

Looks fairly reasonable. I like using morale for initiative; it is a very interesting take.
Thanks for the words, Bill. That was nice of you to say.

Do NOT call me Bill. I've asked before. Edit the post. Aramis, Wil, or William. NOT "BILL."

Do not assume you can use familiar forms. In the 11 years we've had correspondence, I have NEVER used "Bill", not here, not on the TML, nor XBML. No part of my on-line nor off-line life.

I've told you before, and recently at that, that I find it offensive.

I'll delete this part of the post once that's edited.

---------------------

You write a lot of interesting stuff; the data breaks for the separate posts put the material across multiple pages, making it harder to read. Further, the short chunks ate 1/5th of each screenful with header/footer; each chunk was a screenful.

I disagree often with your points of view, but they are often mines for further development. It's not about nice; it's about honest and useful.... I generally avoid negativity in posts unless it's constructive in intent...

--------------------

On aiming: I've done a good bit of point-shooting... I'm not great (no, wait, I suck at it.... but enjoy it). But past 5m, I do better closing my eyes than using a single-shot weapon other than at least looking down the barrel.

However, when it comes to snapshots, I agree with the others... unaimed fire should be penalized.

Say: Close: -1, Short -3, Medium -6, long-10
knock down a step for a laser-sight.

Call the typical shot "semi-aimed", or point-shooting.
Use your extant as "Fully aimed shooting."

You know, for the one time I've not ignored your posts in a couple of months, you've got to act like this.

You said something nice about my post, and I extended the olive branch in kind.

And now you act like this.

I'm going to go back to ignoring you now. Things are so much more pleasant around here that way.

I tried to give you a shot, but you blew it.

You're back on my banned list (it's a list of one), William.

WJP, (whatever your name is)

I have no idea what kind of history you and Aramis have together. But, if he so strongly wants us to call him Aramis or Wil I don't see why we couldn't oblige him and do like he says. It don't cost us anything, right?

Anyway.

While I have the same experience as you have about how people read long/short messages, I think that if anyone is interested enough to give feedback, they will take their time to read.

Me personally I think it's very cumbersome to scroll down or turn to "page 2" just to read the next step in an argumentation or some posted rules. Though, if I'm interested enough I'll keep reading anyway.

Sure. Had I remembered, I would have called him something other than Bill.

But, geez, what a reaction. The dude needs to chill out. He could have PMed me on that instead of having a hissy.

It just reminded me why I choose to ignore him to begin with.

Oh well. Let's get off the Bill/William/Aramis issue and get back to discussing our favorite game.
