The game Universe?

Did anyone here ever play Universe?

I found my old copy last night and was looking through it. It had a lot of promise and seemed to clean up a lot of the Traveller (CT) playability issues.

The game world itself and manner of executing a jump was also pretty neat.

I never played it, so I thought I would ask how it played.

No, I have a copy but never played it. Never even figured out the rule system for that matter. It's still around here somewhere.

Played it, loved it.

The world generation is unique, slicing it up into temp bands.

Seems like the Universe map was one of the greatest things ever in SFRPGs back in the day.

Looks like TSR used most of the mapo, redrwan, for Bughunters of Amazing Engine System.

Delta Vee is prized on Ebay, if you can find it. Universe is on Ebay this week, or was as of a few days ago, I own a copy, that i saved from when i was a teenager.

Loved that game, was kind of four color, completely different approach.

If you can find it, SPI also did a fantasy game, along those lines, DragonQuest, which was much more successful.

I think the author of Universe still lurks around the net, i recall being on a ML of his last year or so.

Universe is available for free via, if I remember aright, through the files section of a Yahoo! Group. (I'm not sure what the exact legal status of those downloads are).
