The Return of Explorerbase

That's right! Explorerbase has finally returned to the World Wide Web! :)
It can now be found at http://explorerbase.wordpress.com. Not all the pages from the original site have been transferred there yet, but all the sector data is present and the rest of the pages will be coming along soon.

Thanks! :) What are those observations?

Scratch that - everything is fine. :) I updated travellermap to point to your new URLs as data sources/credits.

Just to confim, I'm using these sectors of yours:

Core-Trailing:
* Spangele
* Tar'G'kell'p
* Grikr!ng
* Ukaarriit!!b

Spinward:
* Harea
* Tlyasea

Rimward:
* Amderstun

Of those, most are pretty barren. I noticed that Grikr!ng has more population in the rim-adjacent areas than some nearby sectors (and the adjacent parts of Mugheen't) but it's not problematic.

Other notes:

* Amderstun (and adjacent Holowon) are both high-population/high-importance areas, which may not fit the setting and may get moved to be "Faraway" sectors. Still waffling on that.

* I have not incorporated your Hfiywitir Sector / Etra worlds. Are you actively developing those?

* Luretiir!girr is getting fleshed out by Jim Kundert, which has paved over the dotmap I had.

Okay. The high population in Amderstun was mainly based on the idea that there would've been Solomani colonisation rimward of the Solomani Sphere (artificial borders of Charted Space, etc.), and there would still be minor races arising outside of the "borders of Charted Space". Several of the polities do have some more detailed background.

Elsewhere on the forum there's a thread where I developed the Etra species. I haven't written more about the individual worlds yet; would you like me to do so?

Okay; good to know, I'll work on other sectors instead.

Awesome!

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Welcome back, and bookmarked! :)

Thank you both! :)

Now, we'll need to update all the links in the Traveller Wiki to the new address for Explorerbase as well. That might be more difficult, as the search function doesn't seem to work for the sources of pages... I guess my own contributions history would include all of them?

UPDATE: I think I've fixed all the links that were pointing at the Wikispaces site. Can anyone verify that?

How cool. Didn't there used to be several hundred sites in the Traveller webring? What happened to them all?

Thanks! :) I think a lot of the old Traveller websites were hosted by Geocities, and disappeared when Geocities was shut down. Most of them would probably still be findable via the Internet Archive, though. Also, webrings in general seem to have disappeared from the web. :p

Also, all of the sector data and Orion OB1 Association articles are now up on the new site!

Now, the new Explorerbase site has its first new sector data: Ruupiin! :) There's more details at the site itself.

For those who don't already know (I had not written about it in this thread yet), there are now three write-ups/articles on Explorerbase alongside the sector data and Orion OB1 Association information - two ones from 2012 (History of the Etra, Lanthusandr) as well as a new one (Steaakh).

I've updated the data file for subsectors E and F of Hfiywitir Sector to fix some formatting errors and add header lines to make it fully functional T5 Column Delimited data. Though, it looks like Wordpress mangled the separator line by combining adjacent hyphens into long dashes, so anyone else who uses the data may need to fix that at their end.

Also, when I try to view the data with the TravellerMap poster maker, it seems to insist on trying to parse it as SEC data and throwing a bunch of errors, and I don't know how to change that.

T5 Column Delimited data has now also been added to Explorerbase for the Lanthusandr worlds in Ahkiweahi' Sector.
