TNE FF&S Mass Driver Design: Mount

In A. Specifications 5, FF&S p. 110, the mass driver can either use a carriage or vehicle mount and is very clear. I want to make sure that I have a handle on B. Weight - 4 Carriage (Mount?) weight. Here is what I think the text means:

Carriage mount has a weight = Muzzle energy in Mj ÷ 4 with a minimum weight = to the Gun weight determined in B. Weight - 1. Gun weight calculation.

Vehicle mount generates the smallest vehicle by weight that a mass driver design can be carried by. Otherwise a vehicle mount system doesn't effect the total weight of the mass driver.

Sorry the above is the best I can do in explaining how I understand the rules.

So am I totally out to lunch?

Yes that's how I read it: carriage weight = MW/4, minimum weight = weight of the mass driver

vehicle mount = nothing but the vehicle must be 2 x weight of a carriage mount

Evening Shield,

Thanks for the reply and confirming I'm not out in a field somewhere all by my little lonesome.

No problem, somethimes FF&S does require several readings to get what they meant. event worst that the examples don't always match what they said in the rule :)

I'm glad to know that I'm not a problem;). Yet:rofl:. Again thank you for the help.

FF&S isn't the only system, in Traveller or other game systems, that requires multiple readings to catch on to what they aiming for as the end result or examples don't match the rule.
