By Full Thrust variants do you mean Power Projection? And did you file an after-action report? How much blood did the Vilani pay?
Yes, Power Projection, we took a light cruiser out for the price of 2 destroyers and a corvette.
We the Americans and North Atlantic opened by going to full thrust, did a high intensity launch from the corvettes (4 in each division) all targeted on a single Lt. Cruiser, we followed with a second High Intencity launch on the same target and the corvettes disengaged.
Serendipity then took a hand, the Vilani fleet seperated to engage our seperate formations and the move allowed both missile waves to arrive simultaneously as the escorts moved out of support range of the Lt. Cruiser. It was a bit of overkill, but we eliminated one of the 2 heavy elements.
My Division bore most of the enemies fury, and paid the price, first one DD and a Corvette were lost to hevy beam and missile action, the last DD lasted 2 more turns.
That was the first part of the Battle of Barnards Star, 2 DD's and 7 Corvettes escaped to re-inforce the UN and Chinese fleets for the second part.
Our Victory Conditions were to Destroy the enemy flagship, and inflict damage. We guessed wrong on the ID of the Flagship, but we inflicted much more loss of points than we lost.
It was my very first game of Power Projection by the way. I played Full Thrust at a con many years ago.
