Traveller Books 1-3 Reprint

Hi,

New here this is my first post (I'll go introduce myself later). Anyway I have recently been getting into traveller borrowing the books from a friend just to get the gist of it. These are the classic one's that are rather old anyway can anyone tell me if there are any difference between them and the Reprint(FFE0)?

Any review out there as well?(Couldn't see any).

Thanks guys,

Yes, the '81 and '77 versions have quite a few differences. get the newest FFE CT CD and it has all the LLBS from both the '77 and '81 reprints. And gobs of errata for all the myriad other additions.

Hi, cheers for the assistance so far :) I am looking at the book1-3 reprint for now as I don't really need all of it (yet). But the book 1-3 reprint (FFE0) is what I am thinking of for now should I get into it fully then I'll get the CD as well.

Is there much change with this from the old LLB's?
I think the ones I am borrowing off said friend are the 1977 ones...

The damage values of the weapons were simplified in the '81 reprints vs. the '77 originals (3D6-8 for a body pistol in the original became 3D6 in the reprint for example), some ship rules changed (power plants are now required for jump drives), and various minor things like that, but they really don't effect the game too much. Some skills have been altered slightly - its all little stuff. Mostly "housecleaning" to clarify things. I prefer some of the older rules but I'm just that way.

The book you have there ought to do you just fine until you decide to branch out into the rest.

And the CD isn't that much considering you get all the 1977 originals in addition to all the later editions, supplements, and other stuff. But on the other hand my universe started with just the 3 books ('77 ed.) and ran just fine for years with those. I still only use books 1-6 for the most part.

Oh wow! That's excellent thank you very much! :D

About the CD your right that considering the amount of content on it, it is cheap but at the moment my budget is somewhat reduced. Ordered the reprint book.

Thanks again!

For the price of the reprint you could probably get a box set of 1980 Classic Traveller or the later, more complete, Starter Traveller on Ebay and they would be a lot easier to handle (the reprints are a little awkward to use I felt because of their weight and size - ok for reference at home though but dont try carrying them around). You have to print out the CDs pdfs so dont bother with them if you want paper copies.
