Traveller for the NOOK (or other e-Readers)

Just got a NOOK and it's pretty nice. I didn't want all the bells and whistles of a tablet - just something to read stuff on.

Does anyone know of Traveller resources I could put on the NOOK (or other e-Readers). It's supposed to take PDF files, but I'm not sure how the format is (i.e. how it will look). I'm thinking Traveller fiction maybe?

Assuming a 7" (and not the glow-white) nook, then you're on a full up android tablet. The color versions of the nook all can run whichever PDF reader you want. (I've used 3 different ones on my non-nook Android tablets.) It may require sideloading, and some nooks are older versions
(original nook color: 2.2; nook tablet 2.3; nook HD & HD+ 4.4).

The glow-white is a 6" android 2.2 tablet. The interface has been nerfed, but it can probably be forced to accept an app or two. (I've read it can. What will run well is a different matter.)

I have an older nook, you should be able to view the pdfs but it won't be perfect.

That would be a good FFE project to retype and format correctly those books out into epub/mobi. (yeah right, like that will ever happen :D)

I was given an old ipad 1 which is an excellent pdf reader :)

I would like to recommend Calibre as an ebook manager on your pc for your nook. I would put a link but I guess that is against the rules. Just do a google search.

One nice thing about Calibre is that it can convert other formats to the epub that is used on the nook. So if you have a mobi file it will convert it to an epub. It can convert pdfs to epub as well but there are complications if the pages in the pdf are scanned images or text files.

1st Gen iPad

I am really enjoying this 1st gen ipad that was given to me. Using it as an ebook reader for pdfs. Its so old I can't really do much with it, which is good so I am not wasting time playing silly games. I use my google drive to load pdfs on to it, otherwise I would have to use iTunes on my PC. Apple has made iTunes into such bloatware.

Just been loading all the old CT adventures so I can really look over them :)

[Tinfoil Hat Fun] + iOS Fun.

It a weird twist of technological prescience, the Classic Traveller books look GREAT on tablets.
Na, Mister Shuguli is just waiting for his pick up, but you know how long it takes to get an order to and from the Frontier to Vland, much less arrange for a pick up. Thank the Ancients only the TL went up a level, it's so much easier to make pick ups on balkenized worlds.

Oh and Enoff as a dude limited to iOS 5.1 oh yeah, you can waste time with games, there are some nice Final Fantsy ports, an Uplink port and some other Neato games that are new. I can hook you up with a list. Oh, and get a good file manager since the OS is supremely, stupidly limited. Damn Steve!

No no don't tempt me :D

I've just spent numerous hours going through all the Mini vMac exe variations setting up a perfect Mac Classic and Mac II on my PC, and before I knew it SSG Warlords II was loaded up (how did that happen!) I found I was trying to conquer the continent of Isladia again for the uptenth million time like I had never stopped centuries ago. Let my old ipad just stay an e-reader, but a file manager does sound very interesting :)

I have a (Gen 2?) Kindle and it can handle the CT PDFs. They can be a little hard to read at time, being scans and not actual eDocs, but they work. Haven't tried looking at them on the wife's iPad yet . . .

The ipad is nice because its so big, and with pdf scans instead of text epub or mobi files they don't reformat to smaller size screens. Its an expensive way to view ebooks however, I don't know what a current ipad goes for. You'd also have to buy a higher end Android tablet to get the same effect. I have a smaller cheap 7" android tablet but the screen quality is no where near the ipad.

My 1st gen ipad was gifted to me, the person got the latest ipad. I can't do much with it because the operating system is not upgradeable. Its almost impossible to even use the browser because websites have added that many more features since it was made and again non upgradeable. But the battery seems to last a long time and again the screen quality is magnificent.
