since we're all typing away while watching the boob tube,

To which I reply:
Were you watching SuperBowl reruns?

For the longest time I was pissed about MT and all it's errata, even though the DGP fella's were nice enough about getting the errata to me at GenCon that year. That UTP thing didn't click quite yet, I had to go and buy 2300AD before I came 'round on that little wonder. I didn't, and still don't, care for the Rebellion.

In any case, after some reorganizing of the books for MT at Kinkos one night, the whole thing became much easier to use. The chargen for CT Merc etc. and MT are my all time favorites, not only do you get a PC ready for action, you get a pretty detailed backstory for the critter as well. Or an outline for a good backstory.

It really changed how I Ref'd when I had a load of info on each PC to exploit in-game, and the players had ways to connect their PC backstories other than "we met in a startown dive".

Once I found MT, I never again looked back at CT with fondness... except for Bk5 Ship design. MT had that many rules improvements.

The erratta, well, it was a pain. Lots of fairly minor typoes. only a couple major bungles.

But, from where I sit, 2 pages are all I need to present my house rules AND the UTP, and that's all the players NEED to know. If they want, I walk them through the process for Craft Design. (Then I brace for the really wild design ideas they try out on me.)
