Traveller's Safari Ship based on....

Anyone got a cutaway drawing of the VBS flying sub, maybe a 'specifications' page from a VBS annual or something?

How many dTons would you estimate the Flying Sub to be?

Try this LINK.

The more-or-less "Official" stats are:

Displacement, Surface: 56 tons
Displacement, Submerged: 83 tons
Length: 35 feet
Beam: 35 feet
Draft: 9.24 feet
Propulsion: Nuclear (Experimental)

So, referencing the page above and the submerged displacement tons (not the same as Traveller displacement tons)* it comes to about 6 dTons in Traveller. Nice. It's a Speeder :D

* quick and dirty but close enough conversion of "shipping displacement tons" to "Traveller displacement tons" is just take the shipping displacement tons (83 in this case) and divide by 14 for Traveller displacement tons

Seweeeet! Thanks for making me take a second look at those pages Heretic. I'd glanced at the page earlier looking for pics of the Seaview and Flying Sub but I missed the schematics entirely. They even have the Seaview plans

Brilliant! Thanks for that link, I'd never found it when I was googling for info on the FS some years ago (maybe it wasn't there then?)

From memory of the series I'd put it at about 5dT, so not a bad guess.

You can't build much smaller than 5dT with LBB5.

Used to have models of both the Flying Sub & the Spindrift(from Land of the Giants). The Spindrift Doesn't really look like the FS.Strange thing is the Engine Room of the FS & the Sulieman Class Type S look the same.(size, shape & engine placement.)
