Trillion Credit Squadron

The classic Eurisko is a buffered planetoid hull that uses drop tanks for all its jump fuel. This way it can carry maximum armor and so become invulnerable to everything except meson guns.

Then you surround it with lots of little missile boats (Henry Cobb's LBB2 hybrids would be excellent) to kill enemy meson guns.

A Eurisko is the ultimate in "armored rock" ship design.

I think I should start calling these tanker/scouts so that nobody gets too spooked when a fleet of them jumps in.

Hey, that's a great idea, Oz. Thanks for the info... so Henry, are your missile boats on the web somewhere? What are they like?

Oh yeah, don't download those spreadsheets if you're alergic to ship designs that are 19,999 dtons, etc.

Any why that exact tonnage anyone? ;)

Cos it gives you the EPs of a 20000t ship (nearly) but keeps you in the 0 DM size modifier for combat.

Thus it is a nice size for light cruisers and battle riders ;)

Battleriders rarely have to touch the 20 kdt meson death line, but cruisers are generally pushed up to it by fuel and armor and stuff.

Quick HG design system.
1> Determine the budget for the ship.
2> Buy a power plant with half that budget.
3> Choose a spinal mount that uses a third to half that power.
4> If you don't have enough energy for a spinal mount then mount just one missile bay and if your budget isn't big enough for that don't worry about designing a warship.
5> Add enough energy using things to get your agility down to six.

And 1900 tons (well, up to 1999 tons, but I usually round things off to even 100's of tons) is a nice size for the little missile boats: you can put one missile bay and a 9-turret battery of something else (usually sandcasters) and still get that -1 size modifier.

They do if they are less than TL15, or if you want to mount the heavy meson guns that stand a chance of penetrating decent meson screens ;)
