What SF artist or book cover artwork reminds you of Traveller?

I was in a used bookstore and saw a cover that had aslan looking characters painted on it. I thought Traveller right away. I wish I could remember the book title.

Could it be any one of these...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fictional_cat-like_aliens

lots of aliens are cat-like, it is one of the standard tropes of Golden Age Science Fiction. Which is why it gets tiresome in Traveller and the whole debate that the Aslan are not Samurai Cats...

I found it. It was the book cover done by Michael Whelan for Chanur's Homecoming.

Well, not exactly what you were asking about, but the drawings of the Aslan in MGT's new Aslan book made me think more of Larry Niven's Kzin than the way Aslan have been depicted previously.

Yeah, I have to agree that those claims get tiresome after a while.

It is hardly surprising that artwork showing scenes from the OTU should remind you of Traveller!

It does more than remind me of traveller, but rather encapsulate the feel of Traveller in visual form. His work really evokes a feel of adventure in the far future.

if that makes any sense.

No, really, it shaped the way I saw Traveller as a kid,

I still refuse to see Battle Dress any other way,

Thanks to the both of you. I will be taking advantage of the links.

I think I'll have you framed and hung on the wall :D

The pic that's always screamed Traveller to me is Jim Burns' Spaceport:

Totally. His starship renders ring "Traveller true", achingly so.

There's another artist's poster that captured "it" for me, but I haven't seen it for thirty years. It was titled "Ambush, Nightside Mars", and seemed to be a corsair shooting down a cargoliner. I wish I could find a copy of it, or a scan of it. I'm sure it was probably done by one of those classic SF artists who were popular in the 1970s. I don't think it was Chris Foss tho.

It seemed to be similar to John Berkey's style, but perhaps (can't remember!) a bit "cleaner" lines.
