Whatever happened to MegaTraveller 3?

Whatever happened to it? After #2 came out for the computer there were rumors and even some box cover art shown if memory serves me right. There was a brief synopsis of the plot line but then it dropped off the radar scope like a rock.

Does anyone have the rights to it? Is it sitting on a hard drive somewhere?

Frankly I think #2 was a hoot just for the space travel and trading aspects, regardless of the plot line. To some degree it was an early version of Far Trader (on a one ship scale). I remember spending many, many hours just trying to create the perfect crew mwmbers and for that alone it was well worth the price.

Anyway, just the ramblings of an old demented mind who's coming up on another birthday next week. Where does the time go?

As to MT3 - I remember a post from Avery a year or so ago saying that he had sketched out the plot but that it was never committed to code.

Something involving a downed ship, a diplomat needing rescuing, or I'm all wet. Gotta drag out some of that material from days gone by that outlined the proposed MT3 game in an advertisement. Or am I way off the mark?

If anyone has the Dragon Magazine CD ROM, they ought to find a reference to MT 3 & 4, in the back pages of the adverts. Dragon used to do alot of advertisements for Traveller & GDW products...until they hired Gary Gygax for Dangerous Journeys.

Hopefully, the rift is now healed as I would like to see Traveller reach a larger audience, and whether we like it or not, Dragon still remains an effective mouthpiece despite its separation from Wizards.

I loved the MT 1 & 2. Fine games!

I wonder what would be like a new game Traveller with todays computer tech... it would be awesome... IMO.

I think a real time Striker game in the manner of Command and Conquer would be awesome. Perhaps with a scenario creator as well, it could replace tabletop minatures.

I was disappionted when I heard through one source (a few years ago) the MT3 was being canned on the design table . I loved the first 2 and as Loki has said , I too spent hours trying out new characters . I would be great if some company could take up the project
