Contact Establlished
Well, I've finally made my first contact with the geek underground here in The Villages.
We went to a Science and Technology club meeting. When I saw a guy wearing black socks with shorts I knew I was in the right place. I'm afraid technology dominated the discussion today, as appropriate for the meeting, but if some of these guys aren't gamers, too, I'll eat my golf shoes. This makes moving to the Villages look far more promising.
If I were to try to start my own "club" down here (as a formal club you get free access to the meeting facilities, liability coverage, etc) it'd probably be something like a "Science Fiction Gaming" club. I'd probably start taking a board game and my wife down to a center at a regular time until we got enough people together for some Traveller, with anyone not interested in RPGs sharing the room with board games going on the side. Something like that.
At any rate, I can see this place as being far more viable now than before. I was starting to think that there wouldn't be enough members of the "active mind" community, if you know what I mean, to form a quorum around here.
