where, oh, where for CT minis

OK, even though I have quite a few 15mm minis, my players wnat BIG. (Hey...so what if I have to rescale? Grrrrrr...)

But where can I find 25 to 28 mm Classic Traveller minis? Sure, there's sci-fi minis, but most look like Arnold Swarzenegger, are pulpy rocketmen, weird aliens, robots or well....that's it!

I need scifi Travellers! Merchents, ship's crew, normal people in normal sci-fi gear. More like 'Alien' less like WH40k.

Please...load me up with links!

Thanks!

I got about all my minis from Star Wars, about a 4th of them are what you are looking for in the random packs but people probably sell 'em cheap on ebay as they are the more useless ones in the minis games.

I like the larger miniatures myself, but the problem with the WOTC Star War figures are there really 30mm tall, see link for comparison photo, and once you go that big of scale, older 25 mm really look bad. You can get a good collection of humans from the SW figures and then you start to look at the aliens and realize there just a head swap, good things become possible. But I’m a real miniature gamer, so painting; modeling and using Hydrospan resin are all possible for me.

WOTC has just let the Star Wars License laps so there is only one more new set of 40 miniatures left. There are some good 30mm out there Reaper,
RAFM, Infinity, while an anime squad game has some good figures you can pick and chose. Heresy and Hasslefree are true 28mm and a little small, but limited in selection.

There are more photos, but I really need to edit them and list what figure is in each photo.

Go to the Warstore, and check out their sci-fi selections, especially Pig Iron, Infinity, and Reaper Chronoscope.

I'm partial to Infinity, but I think even a lot of the AT-43 characters would be good in a pinch too. Oh yeah, first post! :)

I have kind of made a pack, to stick with the larger 30mm scale since that seem to be the most popular right now. With that in mind also, check out Darkson’s Weird AE WW2, with different heads and weapons, the WW2 German and American leaders and troopers could be easily converted to Traveller. Darkson’s figures have separate arms and heads so swapping is easy and you can get heads. One of my projects is to use the German trooper bodies and Infinity Zouaves for weapons, heads and equipment, to come up with some light troops.

Starship Troopers has some light armored guys modeled after the movie, but there expensive on eBay as well as the plastic guys from the cartoon

Foundry street violence line has a few, as well as Copplestone’s Dark Future, but they run close to 28mm. Void has some Vasa Milita that are also good at 28mm though.

I’m a little compulsive when it comes to miniatures, Green Stuff molds, head swaps and resins parts are just part of the hobby to me. There is also a new line coming out, that is similar to Infinity, I have seen a few greens at Frothers and TMP, the miniatures page, that I look forward to buying.

Not a lot of options, without a lot of conversions, for Vargr or Aslan, really Ebay. Star Wars, Dark Times set has a feline type, but it huge and the same with Infinity’s Dog Warriors.

I have a mix of Grenadier Traveller Minis, Mega Miniatures Traveller Minis, RAFM Traveller Minis, Grenadier Star Wars, Grenadier Warbots, Grenadier Robots, GZG, Denizen, and Ral Partha SF. I bought some of these years ago and some more recently from Ebay. A current source for 25mm is the old Kurita and Steiner MechWarrior Battle Troop minis - these are available on the Iron Wind Metals site listed with Shadowrun: http://ironwindmetals.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=15&sort=2a&page=3. Great if you want to do a Merc scenario. Also available on ebay with some frequency. All of main are sitting on the Dining Room table at this very moment contemplating board the freshly assembled FirstLight spaceship. Boarders away.

Still desperatly seeking Aslan.....but so far:

28mm Droyne, K'kree, Darrian, Hiver, Imperial, Vargr

Still need some work....as one can see the bases and such are in various stages...

That Vargr head needs a 30% size reduction.

And the "Space Elf" err... "Darrian" needs some ear cropping... it is extreme even for a Space Elf!

The "3.5E D&D-style" "weapon as big as the character" of the Imperial could also use some shrinkage.

Here is the link to the above mentioned RAFM miniatures, which are recasts of the old Citadel packs (reference here). Looks like a good mix of models :)

Are these only available in boxed sets?
I always wanted a platoon of Imperial Marines marching in formation, (for intimidation purposes ) but they stopped making them and there's no way I'd buy twenty boxed sets to do it!

I've found that GZG's Stargrunt "United Nations Space Command" minis seem to have been modeled after 3rd Imp Marines. They are available in both 15mm and 25mm with various weapons, poses, with and without helmets on. Just one example:

Nice collection. What company is the Imperial human female from?

Reaper Minis. She's Rosie, Chronotechnician. Between them and Hasslefree mins, I wanted to switch to 28mm. However, the vargr, hiver, K'kree and droyne were all old 25mm (found on Ebay from Greandier Travellers sets...the large head Vargr is Traveller produced!)
