Which is your preferred subsector in the Spinward Marches?

Why? Is there a nice adventure planet there, or is it just a nice mix of planets, or an interesting border, or something else?

Obviously I have a considerable fondness for the Sword Worlds, but I find that Regina is the subsector where most of my adventures are laid -- by a sizable margin. The reason is partly that it's a subsector about which a lot of material already exists, but that can't be the only reason, since there's also a geat deal of information available about Aramis and the Sword Worlds -- probably more than about Regina.

All I can really say is that when I get an idea for a new adventure, four times out of five there's some place in Regina that seems like a good place to put it.

Regina. It's home ;)

The first Traveller book I bought (rather than borrowing) was the hard-cover The Traveller Book. And it had a few included adventures set in Regina ss and a map of Regina ss. So naturally my gaming/reffing started there by default when it was OTU. At least until my next purchase, The Spinward Marches Campaign which opened up the whole sector. Still generally gravitated to Regina though. Like I said, it's home :)

From a practical point it's got most of what one (me anyway) wants from the OTU. A stable reasonable tech base for gear and ships, close to an alien threat (the Zho), and "frontier" worlds for adventures off the beaten path. And plenty of political intrigue if that's your bent.

Vilis - Federation of Arden and the skulduggery which goes on there, Garda-Villis with it's insurrection problem, and the Swordies next door.

I opted for Jewell because there is so much scope for adventure.

The Imp-Zho antaganism has already been mentioned.

Imp vs Imp politics - the only Imperial subsector without its own duke, that just won't do.

A completely barren size 7 world - 871-438 E700000 0 ...

Although not stated explicitly in any material prior to GT, it's pretty well implied that there is no duke of Aramis (The high noble of the subsector capital is a marquis) and Frenzie doesn't have enough of a population to make a credible duchy. If you accept GT:Nobles as evidence, there are no dukes of Vilis, Jewell, Frenzie, or Aramis (Nor of Five Sisters, of course).

[FONT=arial, helvetica]Aramis has to be my favorite...followed by chronor...I like the parts of the Marches that interface with other polities. The Sword Worlds and Darrians never really cut it for me...for I like the big boys.

Regina's my favorite, tho my favorite world is just across the border into Lanth...

Hi,

my original CT campaign was centred on Vilis back in the day, it has everything:
Zhodani to the left,
Sword Worlds to the bottom,
Independant worlds
Red and amber zones
and my patron character was margrave of tanoose (aka Garda Vilis) a revolting world near the border, I loved it so much I still use his name instead of my own!

I'd also look at 5 sisters and distict 268, but you didn't give those options

Regards

Isn't Aramis rather safe by that statement? Your only worries are Vargr raiders and pirates, not exactly big boys.

Agree that Quar must be the least wanted assignment after Flammarion though...

ain't right.
I'm so scared in case I mis-plot my jump and I'm wondering how I'll get
past those c'sairs.
Zhos to left of me, Swodies to the right, here am I stuck in the Vilis
with you.
