• Welcome to the new COTI server. We've moved the Citizens to a new server. Please let us know in the COTI Website issue forum if you find any problems.
  • We, the systems administration staff, apologize for this unexpected outage of the boards. We have resolved the root cause of the problem and there should be no further disruptions.

Who are we?

Connie visited Anchorage - Ranger went from Sasebo, Japan to Vancouver, B. C. Canada - we were part of the closing ceremonies for Expo '86.

And infojunky - when I took that photo of Connie I was standing on the boat sponson between the two aircraft elevators aft of Ranger's island (slightly different configuration than Kitty & later carriers).

This photo is from 29 July 1968, showing CV-61 in Puget Sound - but you can see where I was (my shop was in the overhang directly above, on the 02 deck).

Nobby-W

Named after my first (and only) Nethack character to actually ascend (Nethack 2.0, ca. 1990), I'm a crusty old fart who has been playing RPGs on and off since 1982, cutting my teeth on none other than Traveller.

For my day job I'm a data warehouse consultant, proudly bringing intelligence since the business since 2001. I live just on the edge of the High Weald AONB but originally hark from that hotbed of Traveller activity, Christchurch, New Zealand.

Mostly I use CT and bits of MT and have been working on a fall of the 2I/long night campaign setting of late - dragging out some work I did sometime in the 1990s and finishing it off.

Hello all !

I'm new here,
From France !
I played a lot of rpgs in my youth ( I'm 42 now ), playing no more, but sometimes I unearth some of my favourites like Megatraveller ( & a bit of Classic Traveller )
Very difficult to play SF in France , people aren't really interested in SF rpg. I hardly tried to do it with my players ( AD&D was the favorites in our days...played a lot in long campaigns... )
I found all Chivalry & Sorcery 1st and 2nd edition a few times ago ( I dreamed for it , and found it , but never palyed : people doesnt have any time... ) and recover som passion for rpg. I "unearthed" all Traveller and MegaT I had and think about prepare something quietly ( time is a problem...work, etc.. I also am a musician, about recording these days, and so on , so on... )
Well...
I subscribe here to discover what I missed to understand , problems I had with the rules or while playing , and of course to say hello to all of you , comrades !!!
I mostly was a gamemaster for a lot of rpgs : AD&D , adv.Marvel Super Heroes, Pendragon , Reve de Dragon, Star Wars a bit ( using MT the most time ) and others. I am a great fan of FGU games : Wild West ( I love ! ), etc...

Sorry for my english , it's awkward a bit , I am french !!!!

Hi !

I have posted this in another form elsewhere, but... I've been Travelling since 1980 or thereabouts when I stopped into the local comic/gaming shop on my way from class to work in the food coop. There was this intriguing black box with red letters and the rest is history. I've been out of active Traveller gaming for a while. (real life's a bitch) But as I was unpacking my stuff after may latest move, I came across my boxes of Traveller stuff, sat down and started reading, got yelled at for not getting things done, and was completely hooked all over. Now all I gotta do is find a group to play with. I've played CT mostly, but just got the T5 PDF and am slogging through, with visions of sugar plum scout ships dancing in my head. I have to do something to get that damn song out of there!

Thanks !

(thanks for my english :) )
Yeah , life's a bitch , as you say!
I would add something : I am a enormous fan of SPI's Universe RPG ! ( I talk about the boxed set , including the starship wargame and the acurate map of the real universe ( in 3D ! , the exact replica of the hard board of SPI's Starforce I used )
Do you all know this alas forgotten game ?
It's a marvel , it was made using a lot of Traveller's concept, but with marvellous and interesting ideas.
What I loved the most is the game offers a setting WITHOUT any extraterrestrial contact, there wasn't any ( except an excellent supplement in ARES magazine for a first alien contact , if some want to), into our true galaxy centered around Earth up to 40 parsecs.
Space travel is very similar to Dune , using psions to work interstellar navigation.
I really recommend this game you can find new somewhat easily on internet.
It was clearly created around Traveller system, going somehow deeper.

Playing traveller...

My wife loves fantasy RPGs especially D&D. However she likes Sci-Fi and loves Traveller. So I guess I'm fortunate that she'll play in either genre. Now if I could get her to run as Dm/Gm...this is another story.

Joseph :o
Haha, lucky you Barsanuphius, on both fronts.
