• Welcome to the new COTI server. We've moved the Citizens to a new server. Please let us know in the COTI Website issue forum if you find any problems.
  • We, the systems administration staff, apologize for this unexpected outage of the boards. We have resolved the root cause of the problem and there should be no further disruptions.

Wow, no new posts.

Yep, it was a sign to leave. All Traveller rpg's are legitimate, IMHO.

An aside: I will never understand the editions flame wars in this world, be it Traveller, or more notoriously, D&D. Why the weird few can't accept others personal preferences, I'll never know.

Thoth

It would be nice if there was some sort of decently run forum around.

I mean, I have thought of running something like in the future, charted space is split into polities (heard this from fairly official sources) much smaller than 1105 or whatever. So say you come from a TL15 colony far from charted space but are trying to recontact charted space, but when you get there it is like eclipse phase.

There is no place for that conversation here.

Sure there is: The "In My Traveller Universe" forum. There have been many discussions of homebrew and variant universes there over the years.

No site recommendations. It would be assumed that I am 'recruiting' members, something I am totally against, and therefore would give the mods a very real reason to ban me, and deservedly so in this particular case.

Thoth

I was writing a post, but not saying it is the same thing.

Here's the thing: before others pretend to be clueless (you, in this case)

Personal attack?

just know that when people who are aware of which I speak see comments that state otherwise (yours, in this particular case), it will be readily assumed you are in cahoots - either through head-in-butt, or consciously siding - with the militant mods in which I speak of.

So?

BTW, and let me state the obvious: putting members on your ignore list does not in any way, shape or form, discredit my comments about the militant mods. If you think it does in some way, then I feel sorry for you.

No, putting about 20 people on my ignore list shows that about 20 people showed up on this board and caused a bunch of trouble. You wouldn't happen you be talking about any of those 20 that might think there are 'militant mods', are you? Because their opinions don't count for anything with me.

BTW, I already pointed out how far the mods will go, see above. Aramis intentionally implied a lie about myself to mislead with intent to bias other members views. Nothing has changed, and clearly so.

So push on. You've clearly stated that you feel more welcome elsewhere. So why are you still here? Unless you're here for any ulterior motive. Because nobody comes on this board to read about your 'bitch list'.

Do you even realize that you confirmed everything I said, Spinward Scout? LoL

If we were half as draconian as you're implying, you'd be banned right now for trolling.

You've made personal attacks on me, FT, and Spinward Scout. I'm not even bothering with the infraction system.

To be quite specific, and for others edification...

Links to Other Sites

Links to other game-related sites have ALWAYS been "link to specific content only" on COTI, save for some very specific exceptions - namely Mongoose and SJG, and for a while, Avenger.

Links to a certain other site were EXPLICITLY banned in total by Hunter - at the time, the board owner, and still an admin - because the posts of links to it by its own moderators/administrators specifically were of a "this is to replace COTI" mode. Several users ignored that ban, and got infracted and their sigfiles edited by mod staff. A few argued it in thread after being infracted for it. At present, deep links to that site for specific useful content won't be infracted.

But general links to other Traveller forums (aside from SJG and Mongoose) are not acceptable. By general links as I understand the policy means anything broader than a specific thread.

The reason for the SJG and Mongoose exception is that they are current licensees.

Note that, in product announcements, we're generally pretty lax about links to developer's homepages - the ones I've edited out (about 7 total posts) have been because the link was malformed and didn't go where it was supposed to. I've held up 10 or so announcements due to misaimed purchase links. (In one case, the link was missing a digit, and wound up going to a different game line unrelated to traveller.) I bounced one because it was for non-traveller product. Another got relocated from the news threads to the Lone Star, since it wasn't actually announcing anything (all the mentioned product was previously announced by the publisher), but was of interest to the membership.

Arguing with Mods

Arguing with mods about board rules calls in the thread where the offense occurred is an automatic infraction. You want to complain? There are two ways to do so...

1) PM the mod in question and/or Andrew Boulton.
2) Post in the Citizens' Information Centre with a link to the thread where the issue occurred.

I've reversed a few infractions myself, as have Dan (Far Trader) and Andrew. Don stays out of that except in the T5 areas.
