thanx

Hmmm. Even Grandfather makes mistakes...

Marines. Totally forgot. DOH!
They are a Service Class. I cited the Mercenary as a service class by mistake--the Merc is a Core Class. Some other core classes are: Rogue (a high-tech scoundrel) and Traveller (a true jack-of-all-trades).

Psionicist... I swear I saw written reference to it in T20. It's not listed with the other prestige classes though. IIRC the term showed up in the Feats section as there's something associated with psionics in that chapter. Can anyone verify?

Btw: The TNS Reporter prestige class is called the TAS News Reporter--"same difference" I suppose
I wish there had been a prestige class for emergency or battlefield medical roles... I bet in a few weeks we could all come up with some funky new prestige classes to fit specialized roles...

:D

The design section of T20 is pragmatically 3 chapters: a chapter describing Technology (armor, weapons, equipment--very basic but essential stuff), followed by a chapter on Design Sequence (didn't find a worksheet for it yet :( ), and the followed by a big chapter on Standard Designs all in a consistant format so you can follow through on your own stuff. I should point out the material is not as complex or detailed as GURPS Vehicles, but it seems complete to me--"feels" very much like CT and MegaTraveller... ;)

patiently...sort of
I pre-ordered, but I spent so long grumbling that it wasn't here yet, and wouldn't get here quick enough, that my wife told me to get it Fedex-ed over from the US by priority courier as an anniversary present (and, I reckon, to shut me up too). Shipping cost of double the book price! Oh, how I love her! :) Tracking it on the website shows it is in Frankfurt now, so it should be here in Osnabrück today!!! Now, to read it and write an adventure by tomorrow for the games club...

Plus, my pre-order will still arrive, so I'll have two.....

Obsessive geek, or dedicated Traveller fan? The jury is out....

Take care,

Shane

Okay. I got in touch with my friend who's got my T20 (although he may buy it from me the way it's going...) and he emailed me this on the classes:
Hi B,the classes are as follows:

[core]-Academic
-Barbarian
-Belter
-Mercenary
-Merchant
-Noble
-Professional
-Rogue
-Traveller

[service]-Army
-Navy
-Marines
-Scout

[prestige]-TAS Field Reporter
-Big Game Hunter
-Ace Pilot

I saw no mention of a psionic class.
So... there you have it if yer still wondering about the classes. (I'm still stumped as to where I saw the Psionicist mentioned...)

Cheers :D

Hmmm. Civilian and Military versions of a emergency/field medic as a prestige class looks like a viable concept to work up... Or maybe simply a Doctor as a prestige class? (I'll have to look closely at the Academic and the Professional core classes and see what's goin' on there.)

Anyone with thoughts yet as to what they'd be inspired to add to their T20 gaming? (I know it's early... I'm running on caffeine here... lol)

Its here in Iowa as well - got the call at 3 and had it bought by 5.

Only read the first 144 pages so far - all good stuff. Really like the layout of each profession on two facing pages - will make referencing during play easy. Its a little thing, but something I wish other game companies would consider during layout rather than trying to cram things into as few pages as possible like a certain WoTC D20 Core rulebook ;)

Haven't gotten to the crunchy parts (system and ship design, combat, etc.) - that's tonight.

Definitely worth the cover price so far.

Liam, RV:

This isn't the Random Static forum. While I really don't mind the interplay of you guys, I would prefer it if you tried to keep it limited to the appropriate places.

<forum cop hat off>

Sorry guys. I gotta play the bad guy sometimes

So far I've generated one character.
I thank heaven I've played both D&D 3e and Many incarnations of traveller.

Chargen is Not entirely straight foreward without this experience. there is no simple short checklist for the ignorant, dumb or merely out of practice.

Unless of course, in addition to being one of the above I am also unobservant.

another question. Does the player level up each term or roll up all at once, or some combination there of? or is that up to the gm?
