Concessions 101
Concession Name: Imperial Standard Power Supply
What they sell: power supplies, rechargers, cables and all the other miscellaneous stuff needed for high tech toys
Size of concession: depends on the starport (and likely the passenger throughput as well):
A: 4dT - store with an actual counter, and usually 2 employees on duty
B: 2dT - store with the register in a corner, 1 employee on duty
C: 1dT - vending machines, limited variety of items available
Description: a franchise that sells batteries and other power sources, cables, cross-over systems, and all the incidental things to keep modern equipment running. At larger stores, weapon power packs may be available. Usually the store is a deep red with a yellow lightening bolt as their symbol. One of the franchise rules is that they can only see in the starport: the owning corporation handles sales to the rest of the world to maximize their profits.
Additional potential GM stuff: depending on the gear, assume 10% +/1d6% for a power cell for item. Or pick your own rule. All I know is that it seems cheaper to buy a new phone than get a battery for one...
Plot hooks:
Merchant: players are transporting a few dTons of batteries for a specific location. What was supposed to be simple batteries and chargers was actually laser power packs. Could be a simple glitch in cargo labeling or someone is attempting to get a large supply of laser power packs into the world. One where there happens to be a small uprising...
general: the local population has been importing the higher-tech Imperial gadgets and there's a run on batteries and chargers to keep their toys in working order. The local owner wants the players to track down where the shrinkage is actually going. He knows which employee is doing this, and rather than stop that, the owner wants to sell directly to the local population, contrary to his franchise agreement.
